Advice please Gary Carter 75 Topps SGC 98/10... Thoughts on crossover to PSA?? Thanks! Topps Contr

After a bunch of negotiation I was able to pick this up earlier this year...

I have never crossed a card over, but would like your opinions on this. Thanks in advance.

Well centered and no noticeable corner or edge damage. As long as you don't see any missed wrinkles or creases when you old it up to light, you might have something there.

That's a beautiful card, Mike. I think you've got a solid shot at a PSA 10. I'd like to see a tighter scan of that top right corner (front and reverse). I actually really like the way it looks in the SGC slab, but I understand wanting to cross it to PSA.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Is that a small crease or scratch in the upper left? Underneath the 1975 and on top of the picture by the border?

    Regardless, a beautiful card

100% without a doubt a scratch on the case. There are a few of them. The case has a little bit of wear, I cleaned it off the best I could.

I honestly - can't see any reason it wouldn't cross to a PSA 10. If you don't get it on the first shot, I would continue to review until it pops. I've never seen this card with that nice of centering on the front & reverse.

I think it has a great shot. I wouldn't crack it out though....in most cases I would, but not with this card.
  • I really need it in a PSA 10 to complete the circle.

    I currently have...

1975 Topps Gary Carter Contract 1/1
1975 Topps Cello Carter on top PSA 10(Pop 1)
1975 Topps Mini Gary Carter PSA 10(Pop 4). Just won SCP/Dmitri

And this SGC 10. Pop 1 in SGC

Thought this little batch would be quite nice together.

PSA is brutal with crossovers. They do not like to crossover...especially when you want the card bumped up. Great card.

no way I would crack it out. I've bought a few high end SGC 98's and they were all short. If the card would cross to PSA 10, in most cases it would have already been done.

It's his contract he signed with Topps back in 1975 for his card. Will get a scan.

Mike, that's a heck of a nice Carter. I don't think I would crack it out, but maybe try a cross in the holder.

Crack it out and sub with other strong 75s. It may take 5 or 6 tries but you should get a 10 eventually.

I looked at the card yesterday and I couldn't find a reason why it shouldn't be in a PSA 10 holder. When people use the word "blazer", it's that card they are talking about.

That's a great addition to the collection. I love that they didn't type his name.
