Can anyone identify the players in these photos?

We picked up a whole bunch of un-autographed photos a few weeks ago and were able to identify most of them but these final four have us puzzled. The ones that we figured out all fell into the years 1987-1993, so I'm guessing these are too. If you could help me out, it would be greatly appreciated!

The first photo is of two people, one of which is Rickey Henderson, not sure who the other is though.

As for this photo, the only Dodgers players that I could find that wore #12 between '87 & '93 were Danny Heep, Luis Lopez & Willie Randolph, and it's obviously none of them.

This looks like Magic Johnson, possibly during a celebrity softball game, but I'm not sure.

As for this one, I have absoultely no idea...

Dodgers #12 is Tommy Davis as a coach. The other Dodger looks a little like Reggie Smith but I'm probably wrong and the Yankee with Rickey looks like Gary Ward

Sorry, the other Yankee looks like Mike Easler, I could be wrong though.

Could the other yankee be Don Baylor or Mike Easler?

For the celebrity softball, it could've happened during the Majore League Celebrity Softball Game, since I know Upper Deck hosted it a few years.

The guy in the Dodgers jacket is most definitely Reggie Smith.

Not sure about Rickey's pal but I was thinking Gary Ward, too, even before I scrolled down to pomobileclk's post, so...take that for what it's worth. Whoever that guy is, he's not Don Baylor.

The guy in the Upper Deck jersey looks like Magic Johnson to me.

  • The first person I thought of with Rickey was Billy Sample, but not sure if that even works time-wise.

The 3rd pic is 100% Magic Johnson. As for the 1st pic, I think that might be former Brave Chris Chambliss, who later became a hitting coach with NYY.

I'm guessing that's Don Baylor with Rickey Henderson--Baylor wasn't a switch-hitter, but he did wear a helmet with no earflaps. Baylor and Henderson were Yankee teammates in 1985, a year when Baylor was used exclusively as a DH in 140 games--again, thus the helmet in lieu of a hat.

On the other hand, Baylor is listed as 6' 1", Henderson as 5'10", so what do I know. Back when Rickey was on the Yankees, from 1985 through 1989 (when Steinbrenner was still considered a nutcase), he must have had 14,000 different teammates, coaches and managers.

That is not Don Baylor or Chris Chambliss. I'm 95% sure it's Gary Ward.

Ward is listed as 6'2", Chambliss 6'1"...

It might be Ward--just the helmet makes me think it's Baylor. But for all I know, if could be none of the above. Like I said, the Yankees back then seemed to use about 50-55 guys over the course of 162 games--and that's not counting coaches.

I think it could be Omar Moreno.

Never mind, Moreno threw left handed.

    Good for you.

My first thought was Chris Chambliss with Henderson.

Looking at other images online of the players mentioned it most resembles Gary Ward, though it hard to say for sure that its him.

That Rickey Henderson picture looks like he's with Ted Lange from the Love Boat dressed in Yankee garb....

I've got to go with Gary Ward as well, but not definitive. It doesn't look like Easler to me though.

The Johnson has to be from the late 80's. Upper Deck once held annual celeb games by me at the Field for Dreams and the uniforms looked exactly like that. But I know Johnson was never at one.

That has to be Don Baylor with Rickey.
