I think Buckyball is kicking in, the way it always has at his previous stops. Too bad he's such a dbag and wears out his welcome so fast.

I am a die hard Tiger fan however I wish they would play with the enthusiasm of the Os.Buck has done a good job of building this team.I strongly doubt that the Tigers will rebound
until a major change is done with the coaching staff. They show absolutely show no enthusiasm which rubs off on the players.

GOOD LUCK TO THE Os.I hope they can hold on and at least make the playoffs.

I'd be happy with more than 81 wins as its been a looooonnnnng time sinse they were above .500 at the end of the year .

I like how they're playing inspite of their rough edges .--- Sonny

  • Lets go O's. Maybe Buck learned something from previous failures like some other good Managers. 82 wins would be fine with me.

<< <i>He was pretty good against the crappiest pitching staff in baseball - the Royals. >>

I dont care who it was against. It was Major League pitching which is better than any pitching in the minors. The guy hit 3 homers, 1 double, 1 triple, and 7 rbi's in one series.

Theyre also not the worst in the MLB. Their bullpen is 7th in ERA in the MLB.

I root for Brian Roberts because I have a player collection of his cards--and I see he had his annual season ending injury announcement after only playing in 17 games this year. He will be 35 years old next season--will he still be wanted as a starter?
I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.

Wow , they keep finding ways to win . The bullpen has been VERY GOOD . I like their chances but still find it difficult to think this " might " be the year . I do believe 81+ wins will happen , for the first time in many , many years.

Hey, keep on finding ways to win against the White Sox, eh? Do that, and the Tigers won't bother you for the wild card. Deal?? That said, I love a good comeback story and are rooting for the O's to at least get to the post... Buck IS manager of the year. He has turned this team from nothing into something in just over 2 seasons....

I recently came across THIS VIDEO on Youtube of the opening ceremony of the 1983 World Series in Baltimore. I really looked it up because I wanted to hear Rex Barney's voice again, but I love seeing the old ball players being announced! Let's spark up some more ORIOLES MAGIC!! image

Thanks for sharing. Did anyone else catch the mistake that Earl made? Check out the video at 2:35. I believe Earl was trying to say that Ken Singleton reached base 4 out of every 10 times he stepped to the plate. Instead, he says "He got on base 4 times every time he got to the plate"! LOL An OBP of 4.000. THAT will never be broken! HAHAHA

Another extra inning win last night ( 14h straight ) . This ties us , for now , with the Yanks for first place .

Taylor Teagarden ( yea , that Taylor Teagarden ) batting a solid .152 for the season , had yet another clutch hit , driving in the go ahead run in the 18th inning .

Thanks for the fun summer this season Orioles . Hope we finish at the top.---- Sonny

  • Funny thing is I wound up getting some Rays tickets for my mother, who lives around Tampa, including the season finale. A friend of mine told me, at the begining of the season, if the game meant something we would go down and watch it. We live just outside of Baltimore. Who would have figured, at that time, that we may need to make some plans. lol

The (Pawtucket) Red Sox did their part (laying down last weekend), so now it's up to the O's to take it from the Evil Empire! Do it!
  • calaban7calaban7 Posts: 3,003 ✭✭✭
I heard that a lot of folks thought one of the best things that happened to the O's was when Bobby Valentine turned down the Orioles manager job , awhile back . I think he's a very good manager , but his style would've been a poor fit for the players that are currently here.
