German DM exchange

I have several hundred 1&2 german dm coins from the 60s and newer, are these still useable? can I exchange these for euros or dollars and how do I go about this?

They still are legal tender, but you need to find someone to take to Germany or someone to send them to in Germany. I think the exchange rate is 2DM=1 euro.

DM will always and apparently for ever be exchangeable in to Euros at a rate of 1 Euro for 1.9556 DM.
exception is 50DM 1948 green and 2 DM 1951, as both have been demonetized long ago.
However, exchange can only be done by the German Federal Bank or one of their branches.

I might be off to Germany later this year to the Munich coin show. If you still have your marks then, maybe we do a deal.

Has anyone actually mailed money to Germany and successfully completed the process?
