There are plenty of nearby options and more that are a bus or subway ride away but everything is very expensive. Expect to pay at least $200/ night.

Better make your reservations early. Of the two main hotels, the Downtown Marriott is sold out and the downtown Courtyard is going fast (if not already sold out).

Prices this morning of hotels with rooms available under $200:

    Club Quarters
    1628 Chestnut
    $170

    Philadelphia Marriott Downtown
    1201 Market St
    $176

    Holiday Inn Express
    1305-11 Walnut
    $196

All prices include taxes and are within 1000 ft of the convention center. Sample dates during the show were used. Varied dates will return different results. You can also take a shot and bid on Priceline or buy a pig-in-a-poke thru Hotwire.

Do not construe the above as an endorsement of any.

If things get tight, the Doubletree is only a few blocks away on Broad Street...and is pretty solid for the price (and has an attached dedicated parking garage).

Personally, I'm staying at the Marriott Residence Inn about a block away (there are actually 3 different Marriott hotels near the convention center), which has nice sizable apartment type rooms.

There is also a higher end Lowe's Hotel directly across the street from the center and a regular Hilton less than a block away. All are decent.

I booked the Sheraton Society Hill (about 8-9 blocks from the convention center) via Priceline Name Your Own Price this weekend for $97/night.

Did anyone else go to the Philly Whitman show last year?

We were sharing the space with a huge convention of dentists. My wife actually snuck into one of their lectures...and they were performing live dentistry on a volunteer...they had a camera set up with a projection screen and they were drilling away during a demo of new equipment and techniques.

My wife actually enojyed it...freak that she is!!!
