Offtopic: Big comic book purchase!

Still related to collecting. image I started reading comic books during the mass produced era (1990s), throughout the years I purchased and sold off CGC graded comics. I sold off what I had a couple years ago, but the Avengers movie has sparked my interest in comics again and tonight I made my single largest purchase ever.

For those that don't know, I love collecting PSA graded cards of HOF rookies...in the comic world, the equivalent is CGC graded 1st Appearances of character(s) in the comic book. The more popular/significant the character is to the comic world, the higher the value (of course, condition also plays a part). So, without further ado, I am super excited to present my latest purchase:

Thats awesome! Am I reading the holder right that it was May 1962? If so I had no idea the Hulk was a 1960's product

Yes, 1962! Considered the Silver Age of comics, circa mid-50s to 1970 (many of the most popular Marvel characters were created during this era: ie, X-Men, Spiderman, Fantastic Four, Thor, Ironman, Avengers, many many more)

What a great book. I think the "marvel chipping" is too much for it to be a 6.0, but it is still a great book with nothing but upside potential! Great investment!

I agree and the black cover certainly doesn't help, but I'm a sucker for "WHITE PAGES" image

Thanks, it was between this and an Amazing Fantasy 15 (1st Spiderman) in a 4.5. Hulk is my favorite character, so went with this. Plus, I think inside everyone lives a Hulk in some form.

Dont know if youre a collector or a flipper, but that Hulk is incredible either way.

Great looking comic book. 5 of 62 was about the time I quit buying comics. When they went from 10¢ to 12¢ in 1962 I thought that was too much to pay so I quit buying them. By the way I was a DC collector.

The worst time would have been around 1994. When the market was 20 times what it is today and dealers, myself included, ordered enough books for everyone to buy two of everything. When Valiant was basically committing fraud, when Image almost put me out of business with funds tied in comics coming in two months late (and in a few cases...never), when the 4th or 5th revision of DC just really confused a universe/s, when magazine's like Wizards covered up what was really happening in order to promote the next big Marvel cross over.

PS: Great comic, although other then the Peter David run and the let's shoot the Hulk into deep space storyline/s, I never cared much for the character. I do however have to admit the 80s TV series was pretty good for a low budget action show.
Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards.
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

The TV show was fantastic. In my eyes, Bill Bixby was the perfect Dr. Banner. Now the movies on the other hand - they are horrible.
