NEWP Booker T. Washington Commems with paperwork!

sparky64sparky64 Posts: 7,036 ✭✭✭✭✭
Was talking to my favorite dealer a week ago and got on the subject of classic commeratives.
He said he had this stuff at home and said they were mine if I wanted.
Bought both at bid and he threw in the paperwork to boot. I'm very exited to have these!
I'd appreciate any comments and info. Like why are the coins 1946 and the correspondence 1957?
And..........This my 1000th post. Giveaway soon to follow. (No, it won't be these) image

The Gems of Wisdom folder had one coin attached with tape to the center space on the inside page; typically these coins have a square untoned area on the middle of the reverse of the coin where the tape was attached. Your mailing envelope is a very neat addition. I bought one of these from njcoincrank who had a stack of them for sale some years ago so they are out there.

These historical documents make the ordinary coins much more interesting.

    Thanks for posting them.

I wonder if in 1957 there was an article in a newspaper or coin collector magazine
that indicated that a Booker T. Washington organization still had 1946 coins for sale.

The coins are nice, but I would be more interested in owning the paperwork. Very very nice and very cool stuff!

Can't a MS66 classic commem get a little love on it's own merits? image
