STANDING LIBERTY QUARTER FH SETS

IS IT ME OR DOES ANYONE ELSE PERCEIVE THAT PCGS ASSIGNS TOO MUCH CREDIT TO NON-FULL HEAD SLQ'S IN ITS "FULL HEAD" COMPETITIVE SETS? SOME SETS HAVE MOST OF THE NEXT-TO-IMPOSSIBLE FH DATES, BUT ARE RANKED BEHIND SETS HEAVILY WEIGHTED WITH NON-FH COINS IN THOSE DATES. TAKE THE 26D AS AN EXAMPLE. IN 65FH, IT'S A $25,000 COIN (AND IT MIGHT TAKE YOU 5 YEARS TO FIND ONE THAT ISN'T WASHED OUT), WHILE A NICE LOOKING NON-FH 5 OF THE SAME DATE CAN BE BOUGHT ON E-BAY FOR $250-350 7 DAYS A WEEK. THE PRICE-SPREAD IS ALMOST 1,000-1. IN OTHER ISSUES, THE SPREADS BETWEEN FH AND NON-FH VARY, BUT IT'S SIMILAR IN THE 18S, 20D, 20S, 21, 23S, 28D, 29D. SOME OF THESE CAN BE FOUND IN HIGH GRADES (5'S AND 6'S) IN NON-FH WITHOUT BREAKING A SWEAT OR YOUR WALLET, WHILE THE SAME COINS, IN FH, ARE A GRIND TO FIND AND ARE FREAKISHLY EXPENSIVE, EVEN IN 4. FOR SURE, A NO-HEAD 4 OR 5 27S ISN'T CHEAP, BUT THEY'RE OUT THERE AND CAN BE HAD FOR A TINY FRACTION OF THE COST OF A FH 3 OR 4. THE SPREAD IS NOT AS WIDE IN THE 16, BUT IT'S THERE TOO.
TOO MUCH CREDIT IS GIVEN FOR NO-HEAD 7'S TOO. THERE MIGHT NOT BE A LOT OF THEM IN ANY GIVEN ISSUE, BUT WHO REALLY WANTS ONE MORE THAN A FH 4 OR 5? THE REALITY IS, A NO HEAD SLQ SET IS NOT A LOT HARDER TO PUT TO PUT TOGETHER THAN A FRANKLIN 50C SET WITHOUT FBL (NO OFFENCE TO FRANKIN COLLECTORS INTENDED). PCGS HAS SETS WHERE FH DOESN'T MATTER. THAT'S WHERE SETS HEAVILY WEIGHTED WITH NO HEAD COINS BELONG. IF A COMPETITOR WANTS TO PUT NON-FH COINS IN A FH COMPETITIVE REGISTRY, FINE, BUT THE POINTS ASSIGNED SHOULD REFLECT ACTUALITIES.

I have really not paid too much attention to any points' weight
on the SLQ"s even though my meager set is listed in the FH &
Non-FH categories.
I have to say that the three dates you mentioned are absolute
strike rarities. However, the 27-S in anything close to a FH is a
great rarity. I believe the number one set @ PCGS has been sent
to Stacks/ Bowers for the Phila ANA auction.
I'm meeting a friend at lot viewing a few days before the auction,
because I don't think I'll ever have a chance to view a collection like
that ever again in my life time.
