Ken Griffey Jr. Help...

This Griffey Card has been sitting in my collection for some time. It is not certified or authenticated by anyone. Im not sure if I should try and get it authenticated. I know Griffey has had several styles of signatures during his career, but this one puzzles me. I have seen some on ebay that are PSA/DNA cert. that look almost identical to mine. My Question is: Does the auto look authentic? If it does, what price would I be looking at to have it authenticated (Never done a submission before).

What really throws me is the "Jr" portion of it. The Jr seems a little big but like I said, I have seen this on similar vermont cards. Thanks in advance!

Thad

*Edit to add that I'm not concerned about the condition of the card. I know in the scan there are a few yellow marks on the card (especially in the top left corner.) My main concern is authentication.

  • For one it looks old... so I would think as a collector as the story goes that if I had this for a while I would I have an idea as when I "got" this card. This might help explain the origin of the card(autograph attraction or purchase at a card show). Second... Jr. was a name player as a rookie so if I had an early auto for a while as you mentioned I wouldn't act like it is suprise find or after thought card 20+ years later. I guess you are wanting peoples thoughts on wether the auto is legit or not. I can't help you there, so I guess this reply is useless like your info on the card.

I bought a huge lot of Griffey cards from someone online. He tossed it in for free and assured me he had no idea whether it was authentic. I never considered it as part of my "auto" collection but held onto it. I did not know the seller. The card has been in my possession for about 4 years. And yes, I am asking for thoughts and opinions on its authenticity.

  • The safest thing would be to send it to a profesional grader and have the auto authenticatedl.

  • If you are asking what price do I think it will cost to get it authenicated because I think it is authitinic? Then I don't know, wish I could help you. I am sure others can give you the answer you are looking for and good luck. Seems like an awesome card and worth a chance at getting authenticated but maybe that is the gambler in me?

    PSA Autograph Authentication page.

    This should answer your questions.

You can send it in when they have a $10-15 special. It should pass just fine.

I can't comment on the autograph, but I believe the card on which it is signed is counterfeit. Most genuine Vermont Griffeys are way O/C and the type on your card looks pixilated.

You know, that didn't even cross my mind to think about the card. Thanks!
