Another ebayer to block

Ebay user Rcpacks purchased a group of (40) Larkin rookies. They sent me this message

"Hi, I received the cards and the way you packed them 24 of the cards either have bad corners or a crease in the middle and the other 16 look okay. Can i please get a partial refund of $8.00 for the 24 cards. please let me know. Thank you."

I sent them in two decks of 20 cards each, so I knew it would have been difficult for 24 cards to have damage. I responded with:

"I apologize that they arrived in poor shape. I have sent numerous packages that way and have never had an issue. In fact, this is the first time an ebay buyer has had issues with damage. I would love to see a photo of the damage so that I can learn for next time. I would gladly give a full refund if you send back all the cards. I would also give a partial refund if you just send back the damaged cards and kept the acceptable cards. Please let me know what you would like to do."

They ended up sending all of the cards back for a full refund. After examining the cards, they are fine. No creases, no dings. This ebayer just wanted the cards at a discount. Funny thing is, they spent several dollars to send the items back. I am actually surprised that they didn't fold a few cards to hide their scam.

He likely tried to cherry pick PSA 10 worthy cards or you two have different grading standards. haha. With today's return poilcy on eBay, there is usually no choice but to accept a return.

He could have cherry picked 10's, but why wouldn't he have just asked for a refund from the beginning instead of asking for a partial. Your other comment concerned grading standards. While I agree this could be an issue sometimes, I have never had anybody question these types of lots once they receive them. Lots of buyers ask if they are all PSA 10 or 9 quality, but I've never had any returns from these sellers. A lot of sellers are actually impressed with the quality.

I don't mind the guy asking for a refund, but the lies bother me. Too bad I can't leave appropriate feedback.

I had my first "flipper" with the new ebay top seller 14 day return and one day shipping policy that you have to accept to get the full 20% off of selling fees. They bought a Gem card from me then listed it for $50 more for a week and it did not sell so they asked for a full refund and I had no choice but to accept. I hope this is a one time thing.

Please let us know who the "flipper" is so that we can ban them from our auctions also.

Yes - names please. Also, I would have at least talked to EBay before making the refund. IANAL, but it seems to me that listing the item after getting it from you HAS to constitute acceptance. I'm 90% sure it would in the non-EBay world.

Just another reason to not play ebays "top seller" game. 20%, one day shipping, 14 day refunds and all the other games isnt enough to alter legitimate business models. I am sure your example will be the first of many to hit these boards
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY
