Lightning strikes twice- 1839-O Half x 2!

It took forever to find a nice, clean, original 1839-O Bust Half! I sent it in for grading and she just graded VF-30, last night I saw this on ebay, DLRC had it up so I contacted John and he hooked me up with a smoking price, they are so great to deal with! What do y'all think! Also any help with the variety?

Now, both are great coins, but the XF40 is out of this world gorgeous. Love the original grey patina. JMO, but this coin truly rocks.
Congratulations--wish I had the funds to own either.

The difference between a VF30 and XF40 is pretty small, but I do see the following differences that would seem to account for yours grading VF30, mostly on the obverse:

    - Upper fold of the bust drape is fully separated all the way to the clasp on the XF40
    - The large, lower curl (half way between the clasp and star 12) has better definition on the XF40
    - Better definition at the tip of the eagle's right (viewer's left) wing on the XF40
    - Better definition of the cap fold nearest star 7 on the XF40

These are very small differences, but we are talking about a small difference in grade, and if there's a difference in wear, there should be a difference in the grade assigned.

I do quite like them both, though!

Considering that Rick D. (numismaticclassics) sold a PCGS-45 only 60 days ago for $2200, I think you done well. image
