More Poppage, Sweet '73's and '71's !!!

These were received last Wednesday and popped today. Lots of goodness in this one. The 3 low pop '73 high # 9's more than pay for the entire sub and then some. '71 results were outstanding. All of these came out of the second set I bought on Ebay for $1550! The Ryan was accurately described as having a couple of wrinkles on the back, but they can't be seen without a loupe and PSA has missed them in the past so I sent it anyway. Card looks NM - NM/MT. Throw out the Ryan and the 40 that graded had an avg. of 7.55 !!

    Wow, great job! You probably got more 1971 PSA 9s on that sub than I have out of around 2000 cards subbed over the years. You'll make out great on that set.

    Thanks Matt. I've made like 10 minty '86 sets out of all those wax, cello, and rack boxes I opened and have a ton left to sort through.

    I'm probably going to sell the 9's and low pop 8's, fill in the two sets and then sell. I may go through them both again and pull any that I might have missed for grading.

    I just noticed that the Freddie Patek 9 is only a pop 5 with no 10's. It last sold almost a year ago for $86, but I have to think that was an OC or something because the other 4 previous sales averaged $328!

    Awesome job on the 1973s. As a guy who has about 50% of the set in PSA 8 or higher, i gotta say those are NOT easy to find!

    Thanks. I must say that the '73 set has probably been my most lucrative in terms of grading over the last few years. I've pulled a couple of 10's and several really low pop 9's and star 9's like Munson, Bench, and Robinson. These 2 recent subs are the first '71's I've ever sent in so I didn't know really what to expect other than I knew they were extremely tough. Out of 151 sent in the stats were :

    (1) PSA 3 - knew it had wrinkles, but sent it anyway because it was Ryan and it looks NM - NM/MT to the naked eye
    (1) PSA 5 - OC Clemente w/sharp corners and edges
    (17) PSA 6
    (2) PSA 6.5
    (52) PSA 7
    (11) PSA 7.5
    (41) PSA 8
    (1) PSA 8.5
    (5) PSA 9
    (9) Min. Size Req.
    (11) Evid. of Trim

    Throw out the 20 that weren't graded and the Ryan and the avg. grade of the other 130 was 7.29+ . I'll take that on 2 sets that I paid $3250 for combined.

    I don't think so. I only got 1 9 on the first sub and I didn't scan any commons in the second batch I sent. I cleaned out my photobucket yesterday so the ones in the original thread are gone, but I think I only scanned stars and high numbers.
