What is a reasonable cost

of a 8' table at a small (30 dealer or less and 200 attendes in a low end market) cost?

One promotor quoted me 500, but I don't see too many dealers in the house that
will even gross that, let alone make any profit. OR is setting up at a show, more or
less, a PR move and written off as a business expense?

I could see $60 to $150 depending upon the show.

It really varies. I see different parts of the country charging way different amounts based on number of shows in the area and other factors. Where is the general area of the show?

Is that per day or for the length of the show?

For a show that small, $50-$100 for the whole show.

Table fees vary depending on geographic location, facility and average attendance. An 8 foot table, depending on the show could cost anywhere between $40 and $800.

Based on the description provided a table at that show should not cost anywhere near $500. Something in the range of $50 - $125 sounds more appropriate.

My local club charges $90 for an 8' table for a two-day show. Most dealers get 2-5 tables.

As one who does shows, I think anything over 60-100 too much. These kinds of shows can be good selling shows bc your competetion is thinned down but if attendance is bad, especially people who will spend money, then your hoping you will have a good buying show to at lease salvage the time spent. The worst thing is going into one of these shows needing to sell with not much funds to buy something. Sometimes junk and USM products do better at these shows.

    Depends.
If it is a one day show - toward the lower end of your range.
If a two day show, the cost of security overnight tends to drive the cost upwards toward $200 or so.

But as others have stated, it varies widely by region and venue.

    $500 is way too much

How much does it cost a rent a hotel ballroom w/enough space for thirty 8' tables? Can't be that much - gotta be less than a grand for the whole room - I'm thinking midwest suburbia prices, not midtown Manhattan.

The smaller local shows here in SoCal that have around 30 or so dealers seem to charge between $100-$125 for a one day show.

    $500 is way too much.
