Guy turns into a NPB 10 minutes after the auction ended.

So, a dude won one of my auctions via a <5 second snipe, then sent an email 10 minutes later "I found a cheaper buy it now. Please cancel my bid on this item."

So, if I don't let this slide and turn it into a NPB case, what can I expect? Is there any way he can convince Ebay to NOT give a NPB strike?

edit to add:
NPB ebay ID is blackboard_design.

  • Not sure, but the upside is since he's a non-payer, he can't leave you a negative.

"eBay will automatically remove all Feedback from buyers with an unpaid item recorded for the related transactions, whether or not you are using Unpaid Item Assistant, as long as the following criteria are met:

The listing required eBay Checkout and an eBay approved electronic payment method (PayPal, credit card, ProPay, Moneybookers, or Paymate) for the related transaction.
There was no local pick-up offered in the listing for the item.

If the above criteria are met, eBay will automatically remove all Feedback from buyers for transactions where there was an unpaid item recorded, and block the buyer from leaving any Feedback after the unpaid item was recorded. All related DSRs will also be removed and will not impact seller performance rating."

I would love to add this idiot to my blocked list. Do you mind providing the buyers's ebay name?

Great guy, why do research before setting a snipe?

Ebay has a lot of idiots.

Ebay ID of the NPB is blackboard_design. Block away.

He says that he set a snipe and forgot about it. I believe him, but that doesn't excuse his irresponsibility of not keeping track of what he's setting snipes for, and then bailing on the consequences.

If I were you, I would file a claim and block him. I hope he gets a NPB strike against him. You have to at least give him an ounce of credit for giving you a plausible (and likely true) story. That doesn't excuse his irresponsibility, but at least you didn't get some BS story about mom in the hospital.

I would love to know the difference, not that it matters at all. I find stuff all the time cheaper than what I paid for it originally.

<< <i>Thanks for outing him, he has been added to by block list.

I suggest you walk away from a situation like this and simply focus your efforts on reselling your item to a buyer who you will want to do business with. >>

The underbidder accepted the 2nd chance offer, so I'm just going the "cancel/block" route on the first guy.
