I've been here for over 10 yrs. and have probably done well over 200 transactions, and I'm not aware of this circle of trust thing other than an on and off running joke.

Isn't this whole forum practically a circle of trust? I've never been to another forum where the majority of members are comfortable sending PayPal money or items in trade to unknown persons on the other side.

I agree. With most of my buys and sales the coins and money are in the mail simultaneously.

I purchased a camera from Broadstruck, but he took better pics with it. He was in my circle of trust until this hot buttery monkey business started

You need to be inside the Cone Of Silence when you discuss the Circle Of Trust, otherwise someone might activate the Donut Of Destruction...

While this is mostly true, there have been a number of scammers or would be scammers on BST. Some of the latest tended to be newbies with high value gold coins for sale at bargain prices. Years back, there were a couple of high profile, long-time members that went off the reservation and for whatever reasons decided to start down the scammer road.

So while for the most part forumites are trust worthy, use some common sense as well. There have also been any number of high drama transactions where the laundry has been aired in public. Readers would do well to look for those 100+ post long drama threads, remember the parties involved, or make a list, and make a common sense decision. Then again, some seem to LIKE drama.

Against my better judgement I recently was able to acquire a shot of the circle members. I would be summarily executed had the members discovered the existance of this pic on my person:

As a relative new member with just a handful of BSD transactions under my belt. I have never felt anything but very positive when making deals in trade or cash with members here.

Each member needs to establish their own COT, since not everyone will have the same comfort level doing business from afar. I have done business with many forum members [either here or thru eBay] , but not all of them. Even tho I have not done business with many of them, I have a pretty good idea of who is in my COT.

When you look it up in the dictionary, the word TRUST has a lot of meaning.
Assured resting of the mind on the integrity, veracity, justice, friendship,
or other sound principle, of another person; confidence; reliance.

Absolutely yes. If I had a coin or token that you were interested in buying, I wouldn't hesitate to send it out to you prior to receiving your payment.

Yes absolutely there is every time someone on here extends his trust to another member for the first time. In some cases it is a extension of the original circle and some times it starts a new circle.

Beleive it or not it is much more important to be in the circle of trust on the buy side for access and right of first refusal purposes which is something that is lost of many collectors to include some of the forums most prolific members (recent) past and present who focus on getting a small leg up on every transaction and not focusing on the big picture of building friendships

Manor - that pic has been approved for release, as all COT members are appropriately masked.

A lady who comes into the shop found out my brother works at the same corporation as she does. She said, "I asked your brother at work if he had a brother named Joe. He looked at me and asked : 'why' ? "
