Have you ever found love at a coin show?

Yes, romance, not love of a coin. Can you share the story? Does it ever happen at coin shows?

I've never heard of such a story. I'd imagine it'd be quite hard since coin shows tend me be pretty male-dominated with the most of the women there going along with their husbands.

Many dealers, perhaps a small majority of dealers, are married to people who are relatives of other coin dealers or people who have worked for a coin dealer at some time.

Hookups definitely happen but personally I prefer to do that with those who are not involved in the industry although there are a few who would make good partners. After a while it all feels a bit incestuous.

Looking for love in all the wrongs places.............coin shows have to be on top of that list. They just have to be.

I think a strip club would be a better choice. MJ

No, because the romance I found that led to love was either in a library or in the image

I'm going to answer this the same way I answered a recent post: Are you this bored, really? imageimage
  • When I was 24 or 25 and back from deployment for a month I went to a coin show with my coin "dad" and met a fine young lady helping her real "dad" at a coin show. We did see each other again that night as she was local and I drove from Dallas to a south Texas larger coin show, but a smaller town (small town, but 80-100 dealers traveled there to attend). We found love that 24 hour period, but alas I never saw her again, I deployed, lost her number and moved. Oh well, it happens. I also met an ex-grilfriend of 2 years at a gun show where she was walking with her then boyfriend commenting on firearm prices. That is hot.

When I was in my 20's hustling coins in the 70's their really were hookers at some
    of the shows....

    I was naïve..

One came up to me and asked if I wanted to go back to my hotel room.

I thought she loved me and did not realize till later she was a hooler.......but I was more interested in the coin show anyway.

Not me, but a friend of mine fell in love with a certain lady that was working a table close to the entrance at the latest Baltimore show. I didn't feel bad for him.

I met my wife while we were both working for a prominant California antique dealer. In fact I hired her. Didn't have a clue. She knew right off. Lucky, lucky me.
So there. That's as close as we're gonna get, I'll wager.
    We're all born MS70. I'm about a Fine 15 right now.

Don't be shy. You need to ask her out.image

I wonder if TDN has alerted his buddy Laura about this thread.

A nearby local competitor and her husband met while working a show for other dealers, ended up getting hitched and now run their own husband&wife B/M store.

Maybe we should create a dating site for single numismatists like myself and others... hot buttery nerd love.com or something similar... image

Is having you leg humped by a dog in the parking lot of a coin show count, cause that really happened. Wouldn't call it love on my part, but the dog seemed to enjoy it. I felt mostly used, and bad for kicking said pooch to the curb literally.
