Interesting set from the Franklin Mint. Features one of each type of coin the United States Mint produced from 1776 up until the 1970s. I believe this set was made in 1980. I see random single coins from this set selling for a few dollars each, but it has been hard to track down a full set.
Each coin is a highly detailed miniature version. The 146 miniture coins consist of 92 being sterling silver, 31 are gold electroplate over silver, 17 copper and 6 cupro-nickel.
The size of the case is approximately 27 cm x 13 cm x 3 cm to give you an idea of the size of the coins. They're quite small, but still enjoyable. Especially those rare coins that I have no chance of ever owning a real one!
The only full set of these I see up on Ebay, and the seller wants $650. I am taking offers on this unique set! Shipping from Canada, the case has a plastic tray (not shown) which holds the coins in place while the case is closed.
