<< <i>ICG has some top notch graders/authenticators, why dont coins in icg holders get more respect in the marketplace? >>
Reminds me of this joke:
Ole is sitting at the bar, reminiscing with a friend.
"Look down on our town, I built many of the roads, I laid the bricks by hand. Do they call me Ole the brick layer?" "No." "No they don't. Look at the roofs. I laid the tiles on those houses. Do they call me Ole the roofer?" "No." "No they don't call me Ole the roofer, but apparently if you *** just one sheep..."
Too little too late IMO. After the musical chairs of who grades and who owns the company a while back they were able to lose much of their customer base.
The ICG coins I have are solid for the grade and accurately graded. They are the only grading company I know of where you could send a roll in and only be charged for the coins that met the minimum grade you were looking for. I am glad to see their response to Ebay.
Grading service politics can be a tough dog fight and it seems PCGS and NGC have emerged ahead, especially if you look at the CDN / CMI.
Historically, in circulated and low MS grades for classic coins I think ICG was about as good as anyone. It was their overgrading on moderns above the MS-65 level that I think undermined most of their credibility with the marketplace. Still, most circulated ICG coins I've seen appeared to be properly graded (though there are less of them now thanks to the crackout/crossover game).
Maybe, even If they (ICG) did, grade their coins accurately. Still, don't most collector's shy away from ICG,rather than, PCGS or NGC? I mean, what's going to sell? when someone see's a ICG 1909S VDB or when they see a PCGS 1909S VDB? also note; both are probably going to be the same price! I'm sorry. I,for one, would never buy a ICG graded coin again, never! Just my hard opinion.

i am glad to see ebay have enough influence to encourage some of these companies to step it up a notch or two
after having visited many of the slabbing companies sites, I will say the journey was a little lackluster
soooo, i am looking forward to some of the positive changes that will come about, including the one mentioned in this thread

If this helps meet eBay's rules, then I hope eBay lets them play in their sandbox.

2 came back accurate.
1 of them is a 57d Wash Quarter graded ms65. The label matches the coin.
Their database has it as a 56 Wash Quarter graded ms65.
It's about time, I guess it pays to nudge.
