My Dan Fouts PSA 9

I started a thread a while back whining about not getting a PSA 10. Think I finally figured out how to post a picture of it.

Didn't have to go into your account. I simply quoted your post and deleted the extra [IMG] at the beginning and end of the URL.

  • Hah, no one has been on your account. They clicked quote and then just posted the image for you.

Just keep in mind for posting pictures directly on ebay and craigslist you need the "A href" link, and for message boards you just paste the [img] link.

As far as the card itself, It is hard to tell from the scan, looks closer to a 9 to me
But if you think it deserves a 10, nothing wrong with reviewing it 3-4 times
    Might get a sympathetic grader.

What do you think keeps it from being a 10?

I think the snow on front for one. I owned a copy several years back that was a PSA 9 PD; not much more snow than your copy. Still a very nice card.

Love this card. Always been a Fouts fan.

I'm guessing the bottom border is keeping it from a 10. Or maybe it's just the scan. Hard to tell with a white background.

    Thanks,

IMO small print issues are the most noticeable thing keeping it from a 10.

    Sharp card though.

Snow and registration keep it out of a gem mint 10 grade IMO

Very, very slight tilt as well.
  • ClockworkAngelClockworkAngel Posts: 1,994 ✭✭✭
None of the snow is on the card. It's the scan

Can't say I see the tilt

    Maybe I will re submit

Really a nice Fouts rookie you have there.
Looks like a solid 9 to me too.
There is a very, very slight tilt to the picture.
That could be holding it back from the 10 grade.

Personally I feel a mint card is just a mint card.
The 10 grade shouldn't even exist, but I'm sure
I'm in the minority on that feeling on the CU boards.

I really don't think you can expect a grade of gem mint 10 on anything from the 70s. It's really just luck of the draw. That said, that card, as nice as it is, doesn't scream gem mint when I look at it. The difference between Mint 9 and Gem Mint 10 is pretty small to begin with, and is usually based on things that most people overlook like color and gloss. The registration on that card looks Mint 9 to me, not Gem Mint 10. I also think there is some snow on that card if you look closely at it under magnification.
