Grade this 1963 Topps Rose RC

Hello all, I bought this 1963 Rose RC ungraded and want some real advice on whether it would be a 7 or just a 6 or 6.5. Card obviously has no creases or wrinkles, and the corners are slightly touched but the 63 rose is always known as a tough card to find without any touches to the top because the blue goes to the border, similar to the 62 topps set with the brown border. If it's only a 6 or 6.5, I will keep it ungraded, but do you think it would be a 7? It's almost perfectly centered with only a very very slight tilt. Surface is incredible, color is amazing, no print defects. Back is perfectly centered. Let me know, thanks!

I am not a grading expert, but it looks lower than a 7 to me. I would probably keep it raw, but I'd be interested to see what other people say.

    Nice card regardless. Congrats!!!

I think you have a PSA 6 there. Top left corner will keep it out of 7 holder.

Agree. Maybe 6.5 on the right day because the centering is good.

I agree with Matt. Looks like a 6. Nice looking card you have there.

    6.5. 7 on a clear day.

5 on a bad day. That top left corner is pretty more than "touched."
  • Agreed. Top left kills it.

    6.

The color, registration, and centering all seem to be pretty good.

    I would slab it.

Love the card. Centering is amazing. Top left corner looks like it has a bend to it and bottom left corner does not, IMO, make the card worthy of a "7". I think a "6" is the best it would grade. Good luck ... it's still a $600.00 card.

They are gonna be tough on a rookie card of that caliber. I am thinking 6 and 6.5 if you hit a soft grader.
  • The centering is beautiful on that card. It has great eye appeal. I do not think you have a chance at a PSA 7, but I still think it would look great in a PSA 6 holder, and would be worth it.

  • The eye appeal is tremendous.

Solid 6 IMO, but if sold I bet it would go a bit higher than VCP on it.

    6 for sure
  • It must have been nice day over at PSA because they slabbed it as a 7!!! No complaints here. I think a 6.5 would have been more appropriate but I guess someone over there likes me!

WOW! Good for you, but a big surprise to me. That added an extra $400.00 to the card. (If someone buys the grade and not the card.) If it were mine I would sell it ASAP and look for another "7" or get a nice looking "6" and hold on to a few bucks.

GOOD LUCK with whatever you do.

They were very generous with that top left corner.

Congrats on the poppage. I guess they felt the superior centering out-weighed the corner wear at the top.

I was thinking it would be more appropriate to grade it as 6.5. The corner wear seems a bit heavier than
what I usually see with 7s. Maybe they were thinking it was a 7.5 if the corners were a little stronger, but
since they weren;t they held you to a 7?

I think it falls in a 7 range, but as others have stated they tend to be pretty tough on premier vintage cards such as this, so congrats on rolling a 7.

"Eye Appeal" is strong and great centering
