Interesting Pete Rose error card. Is it worth anything and would PSA slab it?

Here is a 73 Rose with a nicely centered Chris Speier reverse. I paid $15 for it on eBay. Wanted it just for the coolness factor.

Is it worth anything and would PSA slab it?

    a) Yes, they would slab it
    b) It's worth what someone would pay. I imagine you would make more than your money back (card + slabbed fees).

Here's a wrong back from 1958 selling on ebay

So does that mean they will not assign a grade if it has the wrong back?

Don't quote me, but I think they would.
I just don't think it would get a high grade and the wrong-back of a Pete Rose is the novelty of the card.

Ok so then they will just authenticate but not grade it. That's fine by me.

Your best bet is to call them, but I do remember another thread where someone stated PSA will NOT slab the wrong back cards.

  • I doubt it adds any value to slab it, but a Rose collector (or Speier) collector might
    pay a premium for it.

I've paid 2-3x the value for misprinted, blank, or wrong back cards of St. Louis
    Cardinals.

  • I do not think they will slab it. I had a 1941 Play Ball Joe Dimaggio with someone else on the back, and they would not put it in a holder. I called and begged just to authenticate it, and they sent it back in with a sticker stating factory misprint. I sold it on ebay and did just ok. Thought a big Dimaggio collector would step up, but I just broke even on the card.

    Good luck,

That's strange to call it a misprint. Why is the 1990 Frank Thomas NNOF or the upside down plane stamp from decades ago not simply a misprint?

Clearly, they slab these. Currenly there are 3 different cards selling on eBay -- all authentic and all with the words wrong back.
  • sorry, i need to fill my quota on learning at least one thing a day.

error vs misprint,,,,,,, error vs misprint ,,,, error vs misprint,,,, what your saying is, i hope im wrong,,, a misprint is intentional because if it isnt, its an error or just plain screw up which is an error, mistake, ,,, what the heck,,,, kind of an oxymoron isnt it?,, wow im confussed,,, image
