OT: Sports Video Game Placards --Blockbuster

The local Block Buster is going out of business and I bought a bunch of the "placards" for sports video games other day. I went back today and bought every placard/backer that had. It included video games and movies. Over 5000 I would easily say. If anyone is a movie buff of and would be interested in some of them let me know. If you want a certain sports figure let me know. 12 or so Jordans, wrestling, UFC, Tebow, EA Sports, mlb2k11, Kobe just to name a few. I have multiples of most video game/movie placards and they display real nice.

Im going to guess they are 6x9 cardboard

I'm pretty certain PSA won't grade these with a standard red flip since they aren't considered licensed trading cards. They would be pretty cool if you could get some of them autographed and slabed in a blue flip holder.

WOW - that's a lot of them all right

One of my first thoughts was how far they'd go when you fling them image

I have close to 200 sports related video games backers and 50 Call Of Duty that I have found so far. There seems to be a decent amount of intrest for these on ebay and online. So I think I will do ok with them, hell who am I kidding I should make a few grand off of these.

.....and yes Zep, they do fly really well.

It might be worth your time emailing psa customer service. They slab match books and include them in player registry so you never know. If psa says no then try bgs. They are pretty lenient with what they will slab. If it fits in a csae they make they will slab it. Sometimes with oddball items having it slabbed makes a big difference

I think I might try that, it cant hurt. Hell if I can turn the 15 Jordans into 100.00 bills each I would be happy.

Video game placards as a legitimate collectible....this hobby continues to amaze me.
  • Where are the jordans? I think you had just mentioned them, where they included in the lot? Also did you say $100each? That just seems high for something like that

These things are a tough sell at $.99 with free shipping.

Items issued after a player retired aren't eligible for the registry even if PSA graded it.
The Jordan cards are for sale on eBay right now for $4.00 buy it now.
Don't get me wrong I think they are cool, I bought about 300 myself.
As far as value well every time another Blockbuster goes out of business there are more ready to flood the market.
  • You will have a tough time selling them. They don't move.

Good morning, your right everytime another Blockbuster closes the market is flooded with them, yup about 25 copies of each AT MOST . Damn hold the flood gates! Now everytime a blockbuster closes, does another one open? No they are downsizing, so these placards will be non existant in the future. As Johnny D said "video games placards are highly collectible. Seems how I paid 20.00 for the entire lot of them, I really dont think im out anything. I dont think ill have any problem selling these. Especially the titles like The Tillman Story, The Beatles, all the Michael Jackson backers. As far as your first point about player registry and being retired. What about More Than A Game, the Lebron James story? Got three of them.
