Louisiana purchase expo official souvenir

Came across one of these it is not bronze but does not appear to be silver either, any help on the composition and possible worth? If it were a silver coin I would guess it to be ef to au but not ms. Thanks for any help unable to post picture at this time. Jeff

The LPE Official Souvenir tokens came in several different varieties.

They are listed in the So-Called Dollars guide as HK-299 - HK-304

    HK-299: Silver
    HK-300: Gold-plated bronze
    HK-301: Copper
    HK-302: Yellow Bronze
    HK-303: Bronze
    HK-304: Gilt

If there's interest, I have MS examples of each, and can post some photos later.

Thank you! I got hooked on these guys and their relatives (other Louisiana Purchase Expo So-called dollars & tokens) a few years ago, and have been slowly building a collection around them. Most have been acquired raw, and certified ATS. It's slow going to find them, but that keeps my interest!

Here's a link to the custom set ATS.

Values have a pretty wide range. Raw examples can be down around $30 or so, with high-grade MS certified examples upwards of $300.

The copper one is actually the rarest of the different compositions.

If I recall correctly, the silver composition is only about .600 fine, so you can use that to determine a base price based on silver melt for worn or damages examples of that type.
  • Thank you sir your help is most appreciated
