I found a nice proof ASE in an older holder...

The slab is awfully scuffed up - the Eagle inside is flawless... nicer than a 67 for sure.
I think these are pretty scarce in the green slabs.

<< <i>Back then they didn't like grading moderns higher than PR67 or PR68 and the cameo designation wasn't used. These slabs aren't particularly rare as you see hem time to time. >>
You might see them from time to time because you hit 100 coin shows a year, but they're scarce in my world.
This one goes very nicely with my 1987 rattler silver eagle.

A rattler with a 1987 dated coin in it? That's rare and the added bonus is it's a silver eagle.
I'm just guessing, but I bet there is less than 15 of those graded back then...

I've seen several 1986 Eagles in rattlers and wasn't really looking for them either... that tells me they are definitely out there.

Sure. 1986 makes sense as the rattler was used in 86 but only a part of 1987. It would have been a narrow window of opportunity indeed to get a dated 1987 coin into a PCGS rattler before PCGS moved into the next generation slab.

Totally agree. I've got a PR68 Kennedy in one of those older holders thats simply superb!
They also didn't designate CAM or DCAM back in those days.

I wouldn't call the SAE in a Rattler Rare as much as I'd call it very scarce.

You must have a bad memory braddick LOL. Here's your comment from another ASE rattler thread a couple months ago...
<< <i>I won't even tell you how scarce (rare?) that 1989 rattler is!
You would be shocked. (Let's just say if there were three people in a room, not all three could own one. . .) >>

Thanks for the reminder.
(Although, sadly, I'm likely to forget you have done so.)

I should have cleaned the slab before shooting the pictures.
