Wow! Check out these vintage racks!!!

Just received my Mile High catalog and there is an auction (lot# 1366) containing a full box of 1969 Topps football rack packs. If you are a lover of rare racks from the 60's as I am then you will surely appreciate these:

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
<< <i>Simply stunning. As I'm not a Football pack collector, do you know if they came in series? I guess I'm trying to figure out if you could collect the whole set with those racks.[/q
Those appear to be series 2 which means about 130 different cards for sure stars in every pack,
i remember getting many dups in each pack often.

<< <i>Don ... I received mine today as well. Also saw this ... a year you do not see that often.
hey duncan, what is this, like at least the third time brian has had this rack in one of his auctions?!?!?!

I bought that rack 2or 3 mile high auctions ago. I received it and the outer rack cello is completely ripped open and one of the individual cellos is completely opened. I returned it for a refund. It appeared the next auction with the same description. I am guessing that buyer was pi$$ed too. this is the 3rd time it is up with the same description and no mention of the major damage. calling this an unopened rack, even calling it 3 unopened cellos is extremely misleading
Thanks for that info. Hard to believe that a major auction house would not mention this in the description!!!

i like how brian says "when was the last time you saw one of these?" why brian, i saw one in your previous auction and in the one before that too!!
what, does he think everyone who is reading this catalog has never seen one of his previous catalogs??!! give me a break and come up with some new copy for goodness sakes!!!!

Thanks for this. I was seriously thinking
of being an underbidder on this one.

Before you do check out some opinions, i see RED FLAGS flying around them.
Some "prestigious" auction houses take pride in the authenticity of the items they sell--others do not!!

<< <i>So do you guys log where every player should be in any given rom? Do first rows always have the same players present in the third row at the same time or is it just that certain players always end up in the same rows? >>
Yes, certain cards should typically appear in certain sections, for example Schmidt, Bench, Munson and Brett should always be in the section next to the header card, Seaver in the middle and Ryan and Aaron in the far section. In 1975, the far section from the header card should contain cards with a double asterisk (**) on the bottom edge, the other two sections cards with a single asterisk (*). There are rare variations to this, but when it occurs all of the cards in that particular section should be consistent with either one * or two **. If star cards are involved when an aberration is present, you should be extra wary.

The above information Grote15 has chose to impart is extremely valuable and it would be wise for all newbies and anyone who collects vintage racks (especially '75) to make note of it.
