Can someone explain how the Redemption card process works?

Hi , how does the process work? I am thinking about buying one and I was wondering how do you redeem the card and how long does it take to get the actual card ? Do these get redeemed online?

  • I believe just about all redemption can be done online (and is probably easier since you type it in and you're good to go).

Pretty much register on what ever website of the company that it is for, so if it is Panini you would go here, register, and then redeem.

Make sure to include your correct address and info when signing up.

The time it takes to get to you varies. The quickest I've ever had something was Upper Deck and that was about 3 weeks. I had one from Panini that took almost 2 months.

I think these days all the card makers allow you to go online to redeem them. Once you get it there will be instructions on the card for you to follow. Redemptions at one time were painfully slow and sometimes never got filled at all. The few I have picked up recently have taken about 4-6 weeks.

You redeem the card, the manufacturer contacts you to tell you that they weren't able to secure the autograph of the player of interest, and you're sent a replacement card that's worth about 40% of what the card you were supposed to get would have been worth.

Dont forget to add that the replacement card gets there in about 8-12 months

I havent pulled many redemptions since I dont bust a lot of new wax, but I got two from Topps FB a few years back, both took between 4-6 months and neither one was the card i was supposed to get. The other was a Press Pass football autographed by Michael Crabtree...I got it.....16 months after I sent it in.

Pull redemption from pack. Step 2 go online to redeem the card. Step wait for 12 months. Step 4 call doctor because j get shafted. Step 5 cry on the forum about it. Step 6 repeat. image

This statement is mostly false, maybe, maybe 5-10% on the high end get replaced. Lower end product seems to carry the most. Panini is great on it. I redeemed at least 25 through them with National Treasures Basketball alone. Not one was a replacement and that included 6 Kobe Auto's. Black Box Basketball no issue, Bowman baseball no issue, etc.

Companies have heard the complaints for years and like Brian said the turnaround time has improved a lot. You shouldn't worry about buying one or redeeming one.

I've only pulled one, a Bryce Harper, and it arrived in about 8 weeks or so. Quite easy.

UD was well known for being the worst. My experiences with Panini have been great. I agree that things have gotten better in recent years.

I just redeemed a Bryce Harper Auto-Refractor from Topps. The website told me it would be sent 8/22 or later depending on the availability of the athlete. Seems like a long time.

Maybe Topps has to wait in line like everyone else for the Harper auto. His lines are longer than others.

I had good luck with redemptions where the original cards never became available - Fleer Showcase Jackson Melian on leather and Brandon Inge on wood (I may have the players backward) were replaced with Fleer GOTG autos of Maury Wills and Joe Carter. Upper Deck replaced a rookie redemption with a game-used Patrick Roy and a Kristian Huselius auto.
