For those of you who enjoy the search function here with older versions of FF, be advised to get reacquainted with Internet Explorer as FF will soon start automatically upgrading what is on your computer.

Wish I could stay logged in to the Forum on IE.

I have to use Chrome to login so Search is OUT for me.

I've found Google to work well for searching the forums. Just add "site:forums.collectors.com" to your search.

    Are you sure about that?

I read that the new "silent updates" are only in the newest version, I don't think the old versions will do it.
They say you can opt out of the silent updates with the new version.

Even the old versions did updates if you turned on the option but it told you when it updated and asked you to restart so it wasn't silent.
In the new version if you enable it then it updates silently and doesn't ask you to restart for the first 24 hours. It's meant to bother the users less than the older ones that bugged you to restart whenever it updated.

From what I read, it is only security patches that will be silently updated.

The last message I got was that if I don't do it, they will do it for me. We'll see.

Using IE, I can't post on the forum. I hit reply to thread and there is a small box with red X in it that is uneditable. Chrome gives me full function.

Other apps, especially paypal printing, don't work well in Chrome so I keep 2 browsers running.

    Thanks for the tip!

There is a firefox add-on called "i.e. tab" that will emulate Internet Explorer (actually I think it loads the Trident rendering engine for those technically inclined to know) within Internet Explorer. You can switch only what tabs you want into Internet Explorer mode. You can also switch pages on-the-fly (they will reload) between FF and IE, so you can keep your search function.

One of these days, Fusetalk will crash and this forum will disappear.

A prudent thing for PCGS to do would be to update their software to something that is currently supported.

Try setting the forums.collect.com as trusted if you are having IE problems. See if that helps.
When I try to be too restrictive, which I am with my browser settings, without making some allowances, I have problems with certain sites.

I use IE (different versions from 7 up to 9 now) without problems on the forums.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
