As much as I like Lin, I think he's the product of an extremely bored, 24/7 news media cycle. You can only talk about paris hilton, the kardashians for so long.
Imagine if Bo Jackson or Eric Lindros was starting out now. Those guys went up over years, not 1 month.
I wonder if anyone will be wearing Lin jerseys next year.
As such, I decided to not be lazy and do a little research.
Of the 7 jeremy lin national treasures prime "sales" that have been completed on eBay since March 13th, 2 of them were duplicates, so there were really only 5 sales. Of those 5 sales, 2 were actually paid for, at least according to the positive feedback that the sellers left for the respective buyers:
Jeremy Lin 2010-11 National Treasures Prime Patch Auto Jersey #17/25 BGS 9.5 RC (#150782367832) yrozmaryn, feedback 86 - left positive feedback for buyer on April 23, 2012, item sold for $4,050.00 on March 27, 2012
2010-11 National Treasures JEREMY LIN Century Rookie Prime /25 BGS 9.5 w 10 AUTO (#251030771899) beckettmedia, feedback 12718 - left positive feedback for buyer on April 11, 2012, item sold for $2,605.00 on April 4, 2012 >>
The amount of fake bidding on the NT prime patch auto Lin cards was astronomical, trying to auction one off at the peak of Linsanity was probably not the best idea. It looks like the smart people put up BINs and took 3-4k. I can't help but laugh looking at the ones that are still for sale with 20k BINs, these are scorned sellers who missed the boat and probably Latrell Sprewell'd more than one 4k+ offer. If one went to auction Today they would be so so very lucky to pull 12-1500 and I would bet the under on that price.
I wouldn't necessarily bury Lin yet. I don't know that the craziness will return to what it was 2 months ago, but keep in mind there is a massive Asian market that is sill buying anything and everything Lin. If he comes back strong next year, the market will bounce back a bit.

A bit.
<< <i>I just bought a rookie auto /25 of his for $21,000. How did I do? I plan on flipping it. >>
I bought his Spectrum Auto /25 during the beginning of Linsanity for $800, it sold last week at $965. I'd say that's a good quick return!
But yes his cards in general have dropped a good 30/40%.
