No, the dollar coins are collector coins only. The excess will bs sold off through the GSA just like they did with the spoons, maps, tie tacks, cuff links and pendants.

Yep. I would pick up an occasional box under the first direct ship program and after searching them I would spend them. I was not in it for the miles or cash back, I enjoyed spending them and certain cashiers were always welcoming a new "president" for their collection.

After the change which requires extra hassel and fees I have not ordered a box since. I am not paying a premium just to spend them at face value. The system got used and we lost it. The mint will have to figure out a better way to make them available... or not.

I liked using them to add weight to my safe. Easy way to save money as i hated spending them. I cashed in 20k at the bank to pay my taxes and i had to open EVERY single roll, the mint wrapping was not acceptable to the back. So 20k worth of prez dollars have a major scratch down the side where i used a razor knife or where i smashed them open on a piece of angle iron. The bank did relent on the last 100 rolls and took them as is.

Actually, since the law requires the US Mint to produce at least 20% of the total dollar coins as Native Americans, I'd be inclined to keep my eye on the NA Mintages for low mintage releases.

Presidentials are now being minted to collector "demand". If demand is low, they could possibly over mint one or two of the Presidents but then at least they have a specific target number for the NA Dollars.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
