That would be good advice, except the search function doesn't work for 90% of the users.
Basically, on or around the 15th of each month it's "avatar upload day", a day when you can upload your new avatar. It's normally announced by someone in a thread.

Easy for you to say....everytime I do a search I get this:

It's been that way for a LONG time
...and maybe this is way too advanced but ...why is it only a 12 time per year event??? It's not like everyone uploads huge pics...
Now this date can vary if a weekend happens to occur on the 15th. or someone happened to forget it on the 15th.
When the window does appear one is allowed to upload their custom avatar if it happens to be 100x100 pixels and less than 10kb. Now since this has been going on for a long time a file name that is unique is advised.
BTW the process does not always work as there are some interface problems that leave MAC based machines in the dark I have been told. Never had one of those myself so I have not had that problem.
Why only once a month is easy to answer "Abuse" in that some don't think of common curtsy when they upload some things.
and yeah, firefox browsers cant search.. so i have to open IE just for this place
it'd be nice if we could see the emoticons too... maybe it's time for an update. it's painfully outdated.

On the left hand side near the top of the u s coin form home page is a little search box with the werd advanced next to it. Tipe in avatar and you will get a chitload of threads about avatars. This search funkshun searches thred titles only and wirks no matter wut browser you use. The advanced serch funkshun does not seem to werk mit FF greater than verzhun 3.6 or google krome. YVMV.

Thats simply untrue , im a member of at least 4 or 5 that require a subscription and annual fee to remain a member.Theres others id like to be part of but simply can't see paying the required sums.We are indeed fortunate to have a forum of this calibre that isnt charging us for the privlidge.
