Are there any bargains to be had at an EAC convention?

Debating on whether or not to travel to Buffalo for this show. Can one ever find bargains there? Your thoughts?

if you want a "bargain" just shop eBay. If you want to examine some choice quality copper in hand and pay a fair price for it, go to EAC. Wish I could go there, but I can't. Where else would one expect to be able to find (for example) a Classic Head Large Cent with pristine surfaces? Your run of the mill NGC, PCGS, ANACS, etc. certified, "no-problem" coin available on eBay will likely not be as nice as what you can buy at the EAC show.

I agree with Barndog and MidLife here. This is a great answer and exactly what the EAC convention is about. There is a large amount of choice copper on the floor at one time, all listed for fair prices (especially considering how choice a lot of it is compared to other pieces floating around). There is also a chance to get some great educational value out of a show like this as there are many well known dealers and collectors all spending a weekend together, socializing, giving talks, and enjoying company.

I would highly recommend trying to get to the show. You will not regret it!

I would go to an EAC show in a heartbeat even if I didn't buy anything. There is so much to learn!

You'll likely get a chance to buy early copper you would grade Extremely Fine, and they'll call it a Fine or Very Fine.

I'll be behind a table there, and expecting my learning curve on early copper to take a sharp uptick. image

Hope you make it, and introduce yourself. I've already been tutored by show chairman and fellow club member John Bailey that the bourse represents only about 10% of the activity and events at EAC, but if you consider the intangible value of what you can learn at EAC, then yes, this is a huge bargain.
