Eisenhower albums on a tear

Has anyone noticed that the average selling price of an Eisenhower Dansco album (with proofs) is about $200? Not long ago you could take your pick of these for $140 all day long. Any idea what triggered the sudden interest in the series?

    I havent heard of anything but it is welcome news. I picked up mine 5 years ago for $150 so that is welcome news. $140 is a bit low so it seems.

    I just picked up this set in a Dansco album at an auction for $155. It's a nice set and seemed to be going cheaply so I jumped in. Dealer "buy" was at $175 at that time (over a month ago).
    I hope they do appreciate, but will enjoy looking at mine for a a good while yet.

    Nice decent Ikes have been underpriced for a while.

    Perhaps people are waking up to the fact that these coins are not common because of the
    recent articles and books about them. All the MS-60's are easy enough and none of them is
    extremely tough even in MS-63 but a nice choice set in 63 is attractive and hard enough to
    be fun. These sets are considered good starting points for a collection since all the coins are
    there and usually a few will be solid MS-63 or better. It's really not a bad way to start a set
    since many coins won't need to be upgraded.

    Don't try this with all the other denominations though. They are better to start from scratch
    because you'll need to upgrade every single coin anyway. Maybe clad dimes and halfs can
    be upgraded but cents, nickels, and quarters aren't worth it.

    underpriced=low demand.

    overpriced=high demand.

    i'll let you figure out what it means when everyone thinks the price is right.

    Yes, of course.

    It sure seems that less demand than enough to suck up available 1973 Ikes in MS-63
    is pitiful. At any given time there are no more than a few hundred nice attractive '73-P's
    on the market yet a whole set of Ikes retails for $225 or so. If this were a buffalo nickel
    so hard to find it would go for hundreds. A nice attractive '76 type I is tougher yet.

    You are right.

    I saw that and started listing mine. I have one ending in about 1 1/2 hours. It's already at $212.

    Been buying them for $140-150, so at $212 and then some, it's a good deal for me. Not sure there is much upside over $220, but I'll take it.

    when my kid is old enough I will help him put a set together of these. Perfect starter coin that doesn't look like anything made today

    The silver in an Ike set is currently worth $99, so if silver goes up it will provide some additional lift to the set price.
