1970 Topps Maravich question

I have seen a lot of these cards with a tinged/yellow back and an ebay seller I have been talking to claims that this is a result of Topps using an off white card stock for some of the 1970. Does anyone know anything about this? Is this seller full of it or is the yellowed back that you see so often on the maravich RC just normal aging?
