Welcome Paul.......sorry you missed the 1812 slot.

By chance, do you have any later date busties in 55?

I for one would love to see as many Nuts post their beauties!

It's really too bad that we are limited to 2 CBH's as I would have loved to have shown my colorful 1822 which happens to be my avatar image

    Thanks Dave,
I have 1 or 2, but in the wrong plastic.
I would love to see more threads like
this going right on down the line in grades
(55,53,50,45,40. etc.). That way people like
me could share more. My coins tend to
grade in the VF and XF area. Again,
    Great idea Mozin.

P.S. My 1812 is the coin in coinfacts as
the colorful O-103 specimen in case
    you are interested

    Regards, Paul

Thank you guys for all the words of support for this thread. I know I thoroughly enjoy it. Remember, I am an old retiree with nothing much else to stimulate me but Busties.

We need to finish this thread before we can consider a new similar thread. In thinking about a PCGS 53 thread, I think it would be too hard, unless we allowed three coins per CU member. PCGS 53 is not a very popular grade. We may need to drop down to PCGS 50 instead. At that level, we should be able to finish the thread in a most speedy fashion. What do you fellows think about this?

It is hard for me to believe that nobody has an 1826 to keep this thread moving. I would not like to wait until about 8 AM tomorrow morning to open the thread to anyone with an 1826 to show. I know that many of you are waiting to show a very special variety as your second coin shown, and I certainly understand it. I did the same, waiting for the 1815/2 and the 1823 Broken 3.

No question that when the 1826 is shown, since there are 49 1827 marriages, many of you will have an 1827 to follow it.

    HAVE FUN!!!

This is the time. I am now officially opening this thread for anyone to show their 1826 CBH PCGS 55, whether or not they have already shown their two coin limit.

After the 1826 is shown, the two coin max rule will apply again as usual starting with 1827. Only the 1826 is open now to anyone.

    Have fun with those Busties!

This came from Glenn Holsonbake, a few years ago.

O.102, R1, CAC. Pretty gold-orange toning in the protected areas with traces of blue and green. Great luster and a nice strike. 6 in the date is markedly higher than the other numerals.

Lance, your 1826 has some very attractive toning, and the high up 6 is quite obvious.

We could use some more feedback on whether we should next drop to PCGS 53, or go all the way down to PCGS 50. Makes no difference to me, I have some neat varieties in both grades.

I expect we might need to wait until later, when members get home off work, for that next Bustie 1827 to appear. If nothing shows by my after dinner time, I will then open it up to anyone. Please don't jump the gun.

I will be waiting for the 53/50 thread.

Gee guys, it looks like those most interested in this thread have already shown at their two coin limit. This concerns me greatly.

Yesterday, I thought we would easily finish this thread by tonight.

If there is no 1830 shown yet tonight, I am not about to set my alarm early to offer the extra coin shown exemption. Retirees do not like to set wake up alarms. When I get up tomorrow, I have it in mind to shorten the time between allowing the two coin max exemptions. If that does not work quickly, I will up the max to three coins shown per member. I already have my third coin ready to go, but I bet there will be a contest to see who can show their 1836 first.

Better keep watching, you don't want to miss out on a chance to show that CBH beauty you would like to show.

Approximately twelve hours have passed, so it is now time for me to officially open this thread up, to allow anyone to post their PCGS 55 1831. You may post your 1831, even if you already posted your two coin max. After an 1831 is posted, we go back to the two coin max rule to then continue with the 1832.

This thread is now officially open for anyone to post their 1831 PCGS 55. Two coin max is now waved for 1831 only.

    Nice looking 1831 Dave.

This thread is moving too slowly to suit me. I am considering upping the allowed max to three, and still not counting those coins posted during an exception time. Best you fellows anticipate this by getting everything set so all you need to do is click the "Reply to Thread" button. I will be away from my computer now for a couple of hours, so this change will not happen during that two hour time period.

I need more comments from you fellows about whether or not we should have a PCGS 53 CBH thread, or instead move right on to PCGS 50. Members like drddm may not have many in either of these two considered grades, so other members will need to take up the slack. Your thought?

I'd be fine with trying a thread open to both 53's and 50's, to give a little more flexibility to a wider group of participants. I'd still like to see a thread of R-4 or higher only in AU or better.

At this time, I am upping the maximum coins shown per person to THREE. Those coins that were shown as EXCEPTIONS, meaning when I opened the thread to anyone, no matter how many coins they already showed, do not count towards the THREE. So, as of this moment, everyone has at least one more coin they can show.

Have fun! Time for anyone to show their 1832!

Mozin: a couple of wild haired ideas about new threads either after or instead of 53/50 year examples. Each person list their favorite or top two or 3 busties, might see some really great coins. Or could take a year a day and each person could post their favorite coin of that year, or really stretch it out and do one redbook variety per day. Nice 1836/1336 by the way.

It means a lot to me that you fellows enjoyed this thread. Thanks for saying so.

Drddm has an interesting CBH thread he may start tomorrow, and then I may start a combined PCGS 50 & 53 similar to this thread in the near future. It seems most of you have CU time restrictions, because of your work schedule. Sorry, but retirement will eventually come to all of you, at least I hope so.

Halfnuts suggested a combined PCGS 50 & 53 thread to include more members, and I think this is the way to go next. My thinking is that such a thread could be completed in a couple of days, with a THREE coin maximum. This may attract some CU members, that up until now could not participate, because they simply did not have any coins that qualified for the thread. But, these grades may also be too low for members that have only the very high grade Busties. Perhaps it is best if I wait a few days, so these high grade collectors can get pictures of their PCGS 50 & 53 Busties.

The suggestion for a PCGS minimum AU grade, but also R4 or better by marriage thread from 1807-36 also sounds most interesting. Of course this would eliminate 3 or 4 mint years. This thread I think would be a much slower mover than the other threads, but to see so many rarer CBHs would be very exciting. We would certainly need to increase the maximum coins shown to at least FIVE per person, and maybe push some more Bust Half Dollar Nuts to join in on this thread. There simply are not that many PCGS CBHs that are R4 or better marriages. There are a lot of serious collectors that have raw coins.

To me, the final thread in this series should be for each of us to show off our favorite TWO PCGS Capped Bust Half Dollars, no matter the grade, no matter the year, and in any mint year order.

Since PCGS is providing this forum for our enjoyment, I would choose to restrict these threads to PCGS coins only.

    Hey Mozin,
Great thread and thanks for the effort you put into keeping it on track.

My only comment to the above is a lot of us CBH collectors are not registry guys and, not to show any disrespect for our host....not only loyal to one brand of TPG if any. I think our host is confident enough about their product that restricting this to PCGS only coins is not necessary. There really are a lot of nice pieces that are not in PCGS holders and if we are participating in the CBH thread for the right reasons....our admiration of these pieces of history.... than restriction to a particular brand of third party encapsulation is out of place. I for one, collect CBH's I enjoy regardless the protective covering and if I purchase a nice CBH in ABC plastic, I do not feel the need to go through all the effort (and money) to change the protective covering. So the coin remains in ABC plastic.

Again - I really don't think PCGS would be offended if great coins are shown on their boards, as happens daily, that are not in PCGS slabs. I am not trying to draw a line in the sand, but I am actually trying to erase a potential line.
Bottom line, we are coin collectors not plastic collectors.
That said I understand the loyalty to our host and would totally understand if the majority thinks differently.
I will still open and enjoy the thread, but will miss seeing those nice pieces that reside in collectors hands not encapsulated by one particular company or another.
Some coins are just plain "Interesting"
