Bait and switch from Ebay seller

Link is to the Ebay listing, I didn't think anything of him covering up the cert #. Below is the card I received, not even the same card.

1969 MINT Agee

From what I can tell, 707 is the DOLLAR STORE compared to deans_cards. For what that guy charges, if I ever bought anything from him I would expect it to be delivered to me in a frickin' limo.

That really stinks! I didn't see it listed anywhere as OC in the auction. However, of the two I like the card you have better.

    What a d-bag!

Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
  • Weird how he wrote "graded 9 NM MT by PSA".

9 is MINT, not NM MT.
  • He whited out the grade too...with only a 6 feedback. That's sirens. You still have buyer protection though. He falsely listed...get your money back.

    Edited to talk about protection

  • Check out this PSA 9 NM-MT that he sold.

Two things I'd do if it happened to me...

#1 File a claim with eBay "item not as described". The seller clearly omitted the O/C trying to be cute, you will win this hands down and get a full refund. If it ain't in the description, it ain't !!

#2 Notice he has a whopping 6 feedbacks...HUGE RED FLAG to me, however, the horse has left the barn. I would not leave feedback until you get the refund, then NEG without hesitation and add a comment about what he did.

To do less is cheating yourself, and you may well save others from being ripped off by this POS.
  • Knock him down to 85% feedback!
  • Wow
    Go Army, Beat Navy!
  • Claim filed with Paypal and I sent a message to the seller. I checked out the Boswell MINT 8 he sold too, doubt the buyer is going to be very happy with that one either.

  • My guess is it's mistake, since who would actually think they'd get away with that?
  • Win the case!

Covering up the info is fraud. Why would any one even bid on his stuff when he clearly aims to deceive? Don't let yourself be cheated. Get your money back, neg him, and then everyone should block him.

Do you read or watch the news? People will try anything
to make a quick buck these days. Nothing surprises me anymore.

Was it a mistake that he opened up photoshop and whited out
the grade and cert. #? The intent to deceive is painfully obvious.

Good luck with the claim, buckner -- should be open n' shut.

Yeah, but there's practically no chance of getting away with it. Why not just send a 1988 Donruss common instead of a $15 card? And, why didn't he white out the grade and cert # on most of his other cards? If he is a scammer, he's a very strange one.

This is a perfect situation for a negative. Paypal will also rule in your favor of course.

    What a douchebag.

  • Was this card needed that badly? I'm just wondering why this was bid on when the grade and cert # where covered up?

That would throw up a red flag in my book fast. You'll be okay though with a claim. Neg the crap out of him. I wonder if EBay will restrict the sellers selling privileges.

Why bid on that!? With a seller with such low feedback and the grade covered in the photo!? You had to think you were getting a steal because otherwise there is no reason to bid on an auction like that.

No one blames the victim for the seller's midleading posting. However, the victim had enough yelow/red flags that they should have had enough common sense
not to bid on this item.

Who in their right mind bids on a slabbed card where the cert number AND the grade are blocked in the scan? And from a seller with a grand total of 6 feedbacks?

Dress however you want, but don't then go to your local police station and get the name of all registered sex offenders in your city and then go one-by-one knocking
    on each of their doors...

Either way, that stinks. I often question the seller if the number is covered on both PSA and PSA/DNA items. I have yet to get an answer from any seller.

    Gotta agree
  • I also agree with 70ToppsFanatic.

I'm not sure if you have a case. He covered up the grade so you pretty much bid and bought whatever he wanted to sell you pretty much. Yes, the seller is a scum but this was more along the lines of common sense that that you should not have placed a bid with the Grade being covered up like that. Neg the crap out of him for sure and warn others. Its not like its a high dollard card anyways. Lesson learned on something that hopefully didnt set you back.

The perfect statement that is, in so many ways and in so many wrongdoings to men.

I think there's about a 0% chance that he loses the case. He DIDN'T receive the card that was pictured! Plus, it was described as PSA 9, and he received a PSA 9 OC.

  • Buyer is dumb for bidding, but seller is responsible not to mislead as such. Case is in the buyers favor.

Seller is full of sh**. Unfortunately this seller is not much different than some on these boards. Covering up the #'s.....not listing O/C in the title and then having a terrible scan or not having a scan at all...."CENTERED" and centering is the card's biggest flaw.....frosted slabs and the card has been switched....."SET BREAK" and you look at the rest of the auctions and they have 1 or 2 more of a 700 card set///they may not be lying. The will list the entire set over the next 300 years. I could go on and on. I expect a few members to come on and saying some of these things are alright to do///////anything to make a buck right? Oh, I forgot I'm not a douche. Bbuckner22 did absolutely nothing wrong.

Someone on Net54 just got hit with an even worse bait and switch tactic - a totally obvious reprint:

  • Sean1125's avatar of Lincoln with an afro is disturbing.
  • I think I figured out what is going on with this seller. I don't think he's a scammer, I just think he's just lazy and a bit clueless when it comes to cards. He probably thinks that a PSA 9 OC is the same thing as a PSA 9 NQ, or that all 1969 Agees are the same, as long as they look about the same. The reason he whited out the cert# is probably because he wanted to sell his card while borrowing someone's scan, since scans look better.

When he lists auctions, he apparently doesn't have a scanner, because he uses PHOTOS (not scans) for most of his auctions. He stole his Agee scan from this seller. He probably stole this scan too, and whited out the flip. The card didn't sell. Then, when he relisted it, he used a PHOTO (of his card). If he was a scammer, he would just use the same scan, right? Why would he try a scam that nets him about $1?

I'm sorry pictures disturb you. What disturbs me is that you've been here for like a week and every one of your posts is negative. You CAN get help for that Cucka.
