Question About the Perez-Steele HOF Postcards

Does anyone know the reason why these were not produced after 2001? I noticed a lot of the newer inductees' original paintings are up for auction in REA. In the ones that were made after 2011, the description reads:

This painting has not yet been published as a postcard because Doug Harvey was elected to the Hall after Perez-Steele Galleries' last series update in 2001. Though Perez-Steele Galleries is no longer publishing, if the Hall of Fame postcard series is updated in the future, this is the image of Harvey that will be used.

Maybe it's just me, since I collected these autographed back in the day, and I grew up outside of Cooperstown so I would see fellow collectors trying to get these done at HOF Induction, but these seem like a win-win for everyone involved-both Perez-Steele and the collectors.

Were not enough people buying these for them to make money on the production? I would buy all of the series after 2001 if they were to release them.

Peggy Steele announced the closure of Perez-Steele Galleries in September 2003.

The closure was simply a result of Frank Steele's death in 2000. They published the 15th and final series of the postcard set in June 2001 (they'd published the updates every 2-3 years). Evidently, he had worked on putting the update together prior to his death, and everything was in place to continue with that update. With his death however, no one was there to begin the process of putting together the next update, and converting Dick Perez' artworks into the final postcards.

Dick Perez did though, continue with his artwork, and released most, if not all of it, in a coffee table book within the last year or two.

I'm with you. I was an original subscriber to the set when it was initially released in 1980. I read about the set in Bill Madden's article about it in the April 19, 1980 The Sporting News. I kept with the set the whole way until it ended. I would gladly purchase any continuation of the set, were it to be done.
