  • He was scum. He was a completely self centered ego-maniac. Ever hear of payola? When he was being investigated about it, instead of telling the truth that all DJ's, including himself were doing it, all he did was save his own ass and sell Alan Freed down the drain. That sent Freed's career and repuation down the drain, he then became a alcoholic, which eventually killed him at age 43.

Also, on American Bandstand, more than half of the records played were issued by record companies of which he was part owner, almost never playing any Elvis records. Do your research, he was scum...

Don't be a douchebag. Not being a fan is one thing, but good riddance? Somebody has a case of the Wednesdays.

I'm not being a "douchebag", just stating facts...he was a horrible person...

Whether you think he was a horrible person is irrelevant.
The man just passed, people who love him are mourning him, and the absolute least he deserves is for you to keep your comments to yourself.
You have the right to believe the way you did. You also should have the decency to not talk about this man this way.

So Dick Clark = scum? WTF is that pent up 50+ years of hate coming from? What did he personally ever do to you? Was Alan Freed your old man or something? You've got some serious anger issues, dude!

No, i dont think it would be better in a week if you did this. I think that if you cant say something nice, then dont say anything. I dont understand how someone can be glad when someone dies.

$10,000 Pyramid was one of my favorite gameshows growing up.

That makes Uncle Dick alright in my book.

    RIP Dick.

Good Memory !! That was a cool gameshow
  • Dick Clark, not a big deal. That is just my opinion.

I never really cared much about him or his work. It's not my cup of tea.

The tunes he played were easy to dance to, had a good beat, I'd give them a seventy-five.

Who really cares what people write on these death announcement posts. A lot of people don't like them as it is. I do think sensitivity should be shown if it has anything to do with sports or the hobby but this isn't a memorial tribute site for world events. Dick Clark was a scumbag whose importance was inflated by a media who carved him into a American apple pie type icon. Some people like that because it makes them feel good so I guess he served a purpose for some.

Geez, someone dies, and unless it's anyone short of Bin Laden, it shouldn't be laughed at, joked about or good riddanced.

And you guys wonder why some of the good posters from the past have left these boards and why they have deteriorated? Take a look at this thread, and I'm shocked anyone is left.

RMac did apologize, but seriously, a day late and a dollar short. People need to learn to just shut their mouths around here sometimes.
