Experience with getting a PSA 10 on a BVG 9.5

No idea protocol on this board as I am new, but wanted to ask a question. I am a PSA ONLY collector but have a chance to pick up a pretty sweet card graded by Beckett as a 9.5 Gem Mint. If I were to buy it, I would send it in to PSA 10 in hopes of getting a 10 back. If not, I'd probably just resell it on eBay as I really have no use for any BVG graded cards.

So my question is ...What is everyone's experience in sending a BVG 9.5 in to PSA and getting a 10? I have heard mixed things about being Beckett being more stringent and then someone else says PSA is.

Thanks guys

I'd say less than 2% chance.

I think with modern cards there is a chance to get BGS 9.5 cards into PSA 10 holders.

I've never ever seen a BVG 9.5 cross straight into a PSA 10 holder (and, yes, I have tried). I've also never even heard of a BVG 9.5 being cracked, submitted and receiving a PSA 10.

It depends, in part, on the card and its subgrades. Beckett has knowingly graded sheet cut vintage cards that have ended up in BVG 9.5 holders -- and they will never be holdered by PSA/SGC as anything but Authentic.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

Well, that sucks. Think I'll hold off then. I thought BVG 9.5 generally equaled PSA 10. Glad I asked

How about GEM grading company? WOuld a GEM 10 have any chance of getting a PSA 9?

Like mikeschmidt said - fat chance...what's the card? If its a higher profile card, probably sheet cut so forget about it.

    Gem 10 to PSA 9?

I'd say less than 1% chance.

Think about it logically. Who would submit to GEM if they could instead submit to PSA and make more money? Gem is a scam company to get trimmed cards graded or regular cards graded with an artificially high number on them.

I have received GEM graded cards in lots, and just about every single one of them were trimmed cards - probably 15 out of 20 in my experience. Even the modern cards were trimmed! I laugh when I see a GEM graded auction now.

I get it. Thanks. Somewhat new to this. I got scammed buying a KSA 10 card that I assumed would at least get a PSA 9...it did not. Makes sense since all the other grading companies outside if SGC, PSA, and BVG go so cheap

So GEM is a scam? Is KSA also?

yeah stay away for anything out of the 3. They use any other company when those 3 wont grade the cards.
