Last card of a major player.

What are some of yalls favorite last issue topps cards of some big names. First comes to mind the 1976 Hank Aaron. I like these cards bc they have all there stats for there career.
Just picked up a nice 1973 Clemente and really enjoy this type of stuff.

Any others come to mind?

"That would actually make a nice registry set - Last Regular Issued Cards of HOFers (If there isn't one already) "

That would be a good idea.

It has always bummed me out that Topps never made a 2002 Topps card for Ripken's last issue. His last regular Topps issue was 2001, and it obviously doesn't include his 2001 stats.

I like Bretts' last topps card. It shows part of the scoreboard at Royals Stadium and they're ahead 4-1 in the bottom of the second and George is already batting for the second time in the game.

I always thought collecting "last cards" of hall of famers and other stars with them autographed would be a less expensive option to the autographed rookie card craze. I dont have the kind of money to buy many of these rookie cards but I can certainly purchase some last cards and get them autographed. I just need to get this project started!!
I am on a budget and I am not afraid to use it!!

I like the 2001 Topps Archives set for this reason, because it includes the first and last Topps card of HOFers and stars.

I also feel it is a great option to collect key players at a reasomable price vs the rookies. I feel most of those are undervalued as to their details of baseball history.
I like to see what they did and how they did if there team went to the World series.
    Cool stuff

    Would like a reg set.

73 Clemente and 79 Munson are the first couple of cards that come to mind for me...which actually seems a little creepy now that I think of it! image

Doesn't this photo depict Brett as he collected his 3,000th hit?

'69 Mantle and '63 Musial are two of my favorite last cards.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

1969 Mantle would be my Top 3 easy. Love that issue.

There are some classics in hockey too. The '78 Orr and '79 Howe come to mind.

Good idea for the registry. For a long time I collected those cards as a kid, as I knew I would never be able to afford the rookies.

A few years ago the HOF signed rookies bug caught me, like a lot of people. However, there were many I couldnt afford, so I started working on the player's second year card. There are some beauties to collect in terms of second years: Bunning, Kaline, Banks, Aaron, etc. I was always going to look into PSA having a registry set for 2nd year cards signed by HOFers, but I never got around to having the cards slabbed.

These registry sets are great ideas for guys like me who cant keep up with the bigwigs of the hobby.

No, he got no 3000 against the Angels late in the 1992 season, and I think that game was in California. They're playing the Brewers on this card.

Kind of bittersweet for me. After playing his entire career for the Senators/Twins organization, Killebrew was released and played his last year for the Royals.

His last card is the SSPC card witch is quite attractive, however seeing him in the KC uniform just doesn't seem right. His last Topps card is not too bad though 1975.

Oops, my bad--it's been years since I've pulled my early 90's sets out of the closet.

The same goes for Graig Nettles--his last card in 1989 showed him with the Montreal Expos, and even then, the only card comapny to issue a card for him was Score.

I'm rather partial to the '88 Score Phil Niekro card. All of his HOF stats and a photo of him in his proper uniform.

I started looking into completing something like this, but some of the pictures and teams that these guys ended up with make me not want to do it. Eddie Mathews with the Tigers, Yogi Berra with the Mets... It just doesn't seem right to me.

The best ones, though, are the last cards that contain the player's total career numbers. Like, obviously, Clemente's.

    A few others are 74 Aparicio, 74 Pappas, 75 Santo, 76 Pinson, 84 Jenkins, 85 Morgan, 86 Carew, 86 Fingers, 86 Oliver, 87 Rose, 87 Seaver, 89 Guidry, 93 Blyleven, 94 Ryan, 09 Mussina. Those are all Topps.
