San Francisco Tri-Star show report, and a big thank you

Hi, all
It's been quite a while since I went to a real show - I had the opportunity to attend the Tri-Star show in San Francisco today with Joe (josephcb09) and his brother, friend and little boy Nico. Ran into Roger Neufeldt as soon as I went in, which was convenient - Heritage gang mainstay Kurt (kmnorton) had dropped off a little gift at his booth for me yesterday. Inside a team bag was a 2010 Topps Magic Sam Bradford PSA 10, a 2009 Topps Tribute Duke Snider blue refractor, a 2012 Heritage Hiroki Kuroda refractor and last but definitely not least a 2012 Heritage Andre Ethier black refractor!! Yesterday, two of these same Ethiers were on my eBay watch list. I chose not to place snipes on them, and now I know why I had that feeling... thanks so much, Kurt!!
I browsed a little at Roger's booth, but didn't find anything that fit my list. I also ran into Dave Trimble, who along with Roger is an OBC-favored dealer. I purchased a '69 Bart Starr from him to cut that list down to 3... picked up 2 of those 3 from a couple other dealers... and that was it.
A pretty disappointing show, to be quite honest. Way too much shiny stuff (and I'm not opposed to shiny stuff from time to time) and way too many vintage cards in plastic tombs. I almost bit on a '57 baseball 3/4 Big Blony checklist, but $150 for a marked checklist proved to be too rich for my blood. Also saw a raw (but likely PSA 1) '52T Jackie Robinson, but the dealer's best price was $290. Had to walk away from that one, too. I searched high & low for a T205 Wilhelm, but no luck there.
As I was leaving, I walked by a big bin of bargain vintage and noticed a few cards I wished I'd have seen earlier. Frankly, I wished I'd have spent some time at that bin earlier in the day - I might have been able to pick out some gems. Oh well.
