Declared value

Does declared value impact the grade? Is the declared value for insurance only? How do you determine Declared value on your submissions?

Thanks,

David (LD_Ferg)

Strictly for insurance purposes, it has no affect on grade, though if there's a monthly special for cards valued up to $100 you won't be able to sub a '54 Aaron RC and declare its value to be $100.

cumulative value of the order is typically the cumulative value i paid for the cards, but does not exceed $100 per item.

There is no real answer. Supposed to be for insurance purposes only. This has been discussed a million times with no for certain answer. My gut tells me that if you send in an expensive card on a 100 and under sub....it will be held against you.

I've had 1K cards graded Gem Mint 10 that I declared $2 on, so I know the graders aren't influenced at all by how much you put down, nor do I think they even know what you put down.

I would think PSA gives a little leeway on some of the declared values. Honestly, its hard to say what the declared value is on some cards. 1981 Topps Nolan Ryan...if its a 9 its under the $100, if its a 10 its over

    Insurance value only.
I don't think they use DV to screen orders. I doubt they'd kick back an order that has a '54 Aaron on it listed with a low decl value to fit a cheaper special (as long as it fits in the special's years), since the grade has yet to be determined.
