Bad Day....Good Day...and anticipation.....

So...as you can tell by my avatar...I am a Nebraska fan. I live in Lincoln, I went to school there.

Nebraska Football is something that we all get excited about here in Nebraska, as we have no professional sports teams. Today was the end of Spring football and the annual Red/White Spring game. Normally the Huskers pack in about 65,000 for the Spring game....and yes you just read that corrctley....65,000 fans come to watch a practice scrimmage.

The forecast for today was for "High Risk Severe Weather". Rain, big storms, Hail, Torando Warnings...the whole nine yards. Even Joe Catore from the Weather channel was in Lincoln and Omaha today...that is never a good sign.

We did end up having major rain and lightning in the Lincoln area today, I had about 2.5 inches of rain at my house. Unfortunately for many fans the Nebraska Spring game was cancelled today....As I write this there is still tornado warnings at various parts of the state and bad weather still to go around.

The Good news is since I was still at home, and not at Memorial Stadium.....the mailman dropped off a very heavy package from Newport Beach and one that is slightly smaller package.

184 Freshly Graded Modern golf cards are in the large package and in the smaller package is a Bowman Mantle, some 55 All Americans for my cousins set, and a bunch of 1939 African Tobacco Cards including Babe Ruth - 25 cards in all from on the small order...Both were the February Specials that were logged in on 2-7-2012.

I have NOT looked on line for the grades...This is the first time in like forever I have done it this way. I saw that I had the notice that the cards had shipped and I figured that I would just wait and be suprised later.

This is how it used to be in the old days with PSA. You got the note in the mailbox, you went and picked up the package, and when you opened them up at home..in your car in the parking lot of the post office, wherever...it was like Christmas morning and you felt like a 10 year old again.

So...tomorrow I will start with the Golf Cards and feel like a 10 year old again...otherwise I would be waiting to pick up the package on Monday.

Check out the 365 days of golf card post to see some results, I might even video the thing to make it a "live rip" of sorts. I will likely post some of the results of the older stuff here later on Monday, as I am going to "try" and wait until Monday to open those.

  • The weather is rough out there, pray it will not affect many.
