I live near downtown Orlando. Since I no longer collect baseball cards there is generally very little for me to see.

The last time I went to a show was about a year and a half ago at the Fashion Square mall on Colonial Drive.

I asked a few dealers if they had any of the Hulk Hogan 1982 Wrestling All Stars cards and they said no and that they had never had anyone looking for one either.

If you see any of the cards definately post in the thread and I will drive right over.

  • If it were in Tampa or Miami (I am 2 hours from either) I would probably make the trip and tie it in with some Poker at the Hard Rock! As it is.. It's a bit too far. Wish it was closer! I miss going to shows

Would Ft. Myers be close? I'd certainly like one there.

Only thing better would be if it was in Cape Coral lol

Personally, I'd prefer Naples but Cape Coral would work!

  • I would even settle for a 1/2 decent card shop in this area!!!

I wonder if there are many other CU board members from SW FL? I walked through the Ft. Myers flea market and was certainly underwhelmed. I'm a fairly recent transplant from the Albany NY/ Cooperstown area and I must admit this area is a letdown for collectors in comparison. Sure seems large enough to support a show a few times a year.

  • I live in S. Florida.

The same guy who does my local show down here is also throwing that big show in Daytona (which is about 3 1/2 to 4 hrs North. Should be a BIG one because they'll have Beckett and JSA out there and those are always really good turnout. I'm guessing over 125+ tables will be at this one. I highly recommend any card lovers to attend. Even if you don't have too much too spend, its always fun to just go there and talk to other card lovers/dealers. I always spend a few hours there every month.

Take some picture J.R. and post them for us please.
  • I am contemplating a 'road trip' to the National in Maryland. I wish they would have it in Orlando or Tampa or Miami one Year.

Doubt that that will happen anytime soon. The NE & MW have it for a few years and I know they want to go back to CA if they can find a venue willing to book ahead. Looks like this year is the closest it will come. I'm heading back to NY for 10 weeks and plan to go to White Plains on 5/12 as I have an appointment with PSA for authentication of a large # of autos and perhaps I'll visit the Philly show. I'll be back in FL when the National is being held. I've been to two: Atlantic City (terrible) and Houston (OK). I must admit that now you've got me thinking!

There is a great dealer from Jacksonville (jaxspotscards) who will be there with lots of well priced wax and tons of deal modern. Its too far for me as I'll be waiting for the next south Florida show. Hope it goes well!

Can you explain who beckett grading will work. Can I only drop off or will they be grading at the show. If so how long does it take to get cards graded?

    Heck, I live in California.

But the lure of "poker places, adult places, and everything in between" has me pounding away on Orbitz right now!

Nah...that was Deans Cards I am pretty sure with the 52s. The one Im talking about is Jacksonville Sports Cards on Cassat Ave. They are great guys.

Ive graded there on site before. The way it works and you fill out a little form with your name and addy. You pay $10 and drop the card off. Then about an hr later you come back to pick it up with the little slip they broke off from the original form. Thats the process for a raw grade. There is a curtain next to the guy at the table accepting the cards with about 2-3 people back there grading. You never speak or can really even see them for that matter. If you prefer to send cards out to get slabbed, I believe its about $12 bucks. I personally wouldn't bother getting it graded raw and then paying again to get it slabbed. Do one or the other really imo - Just a waste of money otherwise.

I just got back from the show. I was a little disappointed. There was plenty of vintage but almost none of the newer stuff. If you are looking to complete sets from 2011
or 2012 you won't find any there. A few tables of really nice stuff. I was there right when it opened and I guess a lot of dealers either hadn't show up yet or showed up
late. I really hate when a show starts at a certain time and guys are just unpacking their stuff. There was an ok selection of wax, but the prices were a tad high, of course
I didn't talk anyone down, so maybe they were negotiable. Worth a visit if you are in the area but I don't think it was worth a long drive for. Almost no lines at BGS.
  • I noticed that you posted at 4pm and the show didn't really start till 6pm (11 minutes ago)

Maybe you just showed up a tad bit early?

I just got back myself,a long day,as Walt said started at noon, most dealers didnt start setting till 2-3 it did start off slow, once it was 90% full it was
nice turnout,Bgs had a 2hr turnaround till about 6 which was nice.I dropped 16 itema at Jsa and hit 15/16 including ali glove, mantle ball,
walter p[ayton, rocky marcioano check!!So happy about that one,got a ted williams model glove auto.d back that should cover all weekends expenses.
I sold 50% of my cards before 2 to other dealers, always nice.I didnt walk around but once to get an idea of what to pick up tomm.I did spot a rose I want
so hopefully Ill have a great scan of my new one card Im trading most of my shiny modern for.
