Ebay Listings of Raw Cards with the text "PSA" in the Title

I am getting a bit frustrated by people who list raw cards on Ebay and put the text "PSA" in the title just so that those of us who
search exclusively for slabbed cards have to page through their listings too. The latest guy who is doing it goes by the name
lock-em-up-bob.

Besides being a nuisance, I feel that this is against the spirit of the rules of the Ebay community. It is in a way misrepresentation,
and might even be an improper use of a trademarked brand.

This poster has me especially ticked because he puts "PSA 8 9 10 MINT" in the end of his listing, has not scanned photos of the items
and the has the gall to say within his listings that he "...is not a professional grader..."

I dont have an issue with someone who puts in his listing text for a raw card that if you send it in to PSA that their opinion is that it
should get an 8, 9 or 10. However, when someone puts it in the title so that when I do a PSA search I need to page through listings
that have nothing to do with slabbed cards I think it is rude and a misrepresentation of what the guy is offering. On top of that, I would
think that PSA could easily claim the person doing this is using their registered brand name without permission to promote a product.

How do others feel about this? Is there anything that can be done to report such listings to Ebay for removal?

I do understand that people use this technique all the time to get additional "views" of their listings (e.g. SGC 88 = PSA 8), but it
just seems like its wrong and there should be a way to get it stopped.

Thoughts?

Yep. There is a guy out there selling 56 Topps as "PSA Ready". I have to put "- Ready" in my searches for 56's just to omit him. Now, if I see something from him I won't buy it even if it IS something I need. That stuff annoys me. PSA Ready... I could say that about 99.999% of the cards out there. It doesn't mean they'll grade worth anything.

I have a huge problem with this. I have in the past reported some of them to eBay...even got on the phone with them. They did nothing, as I suspect they generate revenue and eBay doesn't care as long as they see $$$$$$$$.

It makes it very difficult to search for PSA graded cards.

My biggest one is the SGC 98 = PSA 10. I'm sick of seeing these...

Hate it. I guess we need to start clicking on the tab that says something about imprpoer listings. Maybe we need to start asking the seller why he is doing it too! He wastes our time, we'll waste his.

  • That is not okay. The only one I can handle which still isn't really okay is when someone compares like a SGC 88 to a PSA 8 or something.

But the reality is any of these practices are just fishin..

    Report it IMO...

I hate that but I dont report as much as I should. I am going to start doing it. Usualy I am searching for a Sandberg card and the title will read:

"1984 Topps Ryne Sandberg PSA?????" Maybe I will reply PSA what? What is PSA about this card?

Most recently I was looking for 2012 Topps Heritage short prints lots and one seller listed all of his singles as lots and there were at lease 50 auctions to grind through to find what I was looking for. I did report him. Not sure if anything ever became of it.

After you do a search, click on "seller" on the left side. You can then choose to exclude certain sellers from your search by entering their user ID.

If crap like this bothers you that much I suggest you take up another hobby, like gardening...but wait, those pesky rabbits keep eating your vegtables. I think people look for things to gripe about when they get too much time on their hands. This is so small compared to real problems that people have. And then going to ebay to report them is like telling the teacher that the person in front of you is copying the answers off of the paper next to him. "against the spirit of the rules of ebay"......are you serious ????? please tell me what this means !! there are millions upon millions of items on ebay not represented 100% accurate....someone before me on these threads spoke about an annoying measure for those that are annoyed by this topic.."ask a question" on ebay listing and make your remark like "psa what?? if card is listed as psa but not graded.. enough of these and it takes sellers time to read emails and they might get the picture.........hard to believe that this actually "upsets" some of you...

Sellers putting SGC 88 = PSA 8 doesn't bother me at all. Although I don't care for
sellers saying SGC 86 = PSA 8. Which is deceptive since an 7.5 doesn't equal an 8.

Sellers putting PSA in the title for raw cards, I have a problem with them.
Same with the 'PSA ready' crapola.

I can't stand seeing 'set break' in title either when the seller is maybe
only selling 10-15 different cards from a 198 or higher card set. To me a set break
is at least a 90% complete set that they're breaking up the entire thing.

All of this has been going on for over a decade on ebay, with no end in sight.
You just have to report the real abusers of this or skip over them in searches.

I agree its anoying with tthe PSA titled what not. I feel Ebay did away with this once they gave the free option to have a pic next to the tittle. If I dont see a pic I move on. Never click.

But I agree with this coment as I hated that guy who wouldnt let me look over his sholder.

These are all very important life lessons.

    Enjoy.

What annoys me is how Ebay can't seem to come up with separate categories for game-worn jerseys and game-worn jersey CARDS. But at the same time, I wouldn't have time to report all of the crummy-looking XXXL t-shirts and bootleg M & N from Hong Kong that sellers try and pass off as "game worn" in that same category.

Looks like you're just as worked up as the OP... maybe if these kinds of threads bother you so much, you shouldn't read them and take the time to comment on them?

This particular seller listed hundreds of raw 70's. I reported one of them, and hoped Ebay would pick up on it, and cancel the rest. PSA has to stand up for their trademark and complain to Ebay to help put an end to this kind of thing. Just my 2 cents.

I once reported 20 auctions from a seller that was using "PSA ready" in the title for most of their raw card auctions. None of them were ever removed and the auctions ended without a bidder. The seller just keeps re-listing them week after week... still using "PSA ready" in the title. Ebay doesn't care as long as they are getting their money
