Why would someone bid like this on my auction? It's going to scare people away...

Look at the bidding someone is doing on my own auction. I've seen it on others, but never on my own. This is going to scare bidders away I would think. The person has bid like 35 times in only a day or so.

Look at automatic bids. Might shed some light.
I hate having to beat out a bidder with no feedback, not because I'm paranoid about shill bidding by sellers, but due to a more basic fundamental bidding principle, which is that we can't assume that a zero-feedback bidder actually would have paid if victorious. I don't mind paying $151 for an item when the next bidder with good feedback put in a bid of $150. But if the next bidder who bid $150 has no feedback and the one after that only bid $100, I get a real bad feeling. If such a situation is predictable, that's when I'd stay away.

<< <i>My guess is that it is an inexperienced bidder. When I started bidding on ebay I was guilty of the same thing. I hated seeing that I was outbidded. Soon realized that method can be costly even if I won an item that was under my limit spending. Ebay auctions are a marathon not a sprint! >>
Inexperienced bidder ? That bidder, and the above reply knows exaclty what is going on.
1. They don't understand how Ebay bidding works.
2. They're messing with your auction.
3. They're trying to scare away other bidders.
4. They have one like it and want to drive up the price (without winning it) to hopefully increase the value of theirs.
To be honest, no direction, but...
