Seaver card is normally located in sleeve next to header card, not the far right section.

i looked at this rack several times and noticed the same thing grote something just doesnt smell right about that rack..i have never seen seaver in that slot either
I made the same observation when I first saw this rack pack regarding the Seaver card not being in the section closest to the header card. If I'm going to spend $300 plus on a rack pack, I need to be 100% confident that the rack pack is good. Also, didn't like the fact that there was no back scan showing the McCovey.

I was considering bidding on the rack. The seller has been around for a long time. If it was someone I never heard of, I would definitely stay away. I have heard people have had customer service type issues with this seller but it there a question of their integrity?
What do you think of this one? Bought it a couple months back from the same seller. I'll post scans later, but looks legit to me, I showed it to Cincy as well.
Actually I posted it in the show me your rack thread too.
I actually had the one the OP posted in my watch list, but have spent too much as of late. Couldn't see spending $300 for it.

Since they move large volumes, it doesn't surprise me that a questionable pack could make it in. It is possible they are not hip to the sequencing of star cards within rack packs.

Hey Mike, I did see your rack when you posted it on Manny's thread and I knew it was good from the back right away. I just checked the front cards and they are also in the correct sections. Great bottom star power right there!!!

So is it impossible then for the rack the OP posted to have those stars showing?
Just wondering, so many of you seriously know your stuff with these racks, cello's, etc.
I've bought from Kruk a good 20 times over the last several years, I never had one problem. If anything he gave discounts when asked if I bought multiple boxes or cases.
I've seen where the customer service isn't good on threads here, but I have had great experiences with the seller, and the same through his store on the net.
<< <i>So is it impossible then for the rack the OP posted to have those stars showing? >>
Well, the Carew and Yount are in the correct sections, but when you add the fact that a third HOF on top is in the wrong section, my antenna goes up. If he included a scan of the back, it would enable me to see if it is possible that a factory error occurred rather than a resealing job. They also spelled the names of the two common players wrong, but I can figure out who they are. For $300 plus, I better be 100% sure and I was just not there on this one.

They have a 1980 cello pack for sale with Blue Jays prospects on back and show a back scan of that pack but don't show one here on a $300 rack with a HOFer on back?

I bought this rack. I'll post scans of the front and back when I receive the item. $300+ is high but '77 is my favorite year (first year collecting as a 7yo kid) and if it's a legit rack with 4 HOFers showing, it's something very special. Also, it looks to me like Kruk's return policy is pretty iron clad so I felt confident in ordering.
"if for any reason you are not satisfied, we offer a 14 day return policy and we will reimburse you for return shipping. A 100% refund will be issued as long as items are returned unopened and un-tampered."
I also have PayPal and Amex behind me if I run into any issues so I didn't feel like I needed to be 100% sure before buying. I am *really, really* hoping that it's legit though.
BTW - I've been meaning to throw out thread for a while now to introduce myself (or just do it in Muggy's thread). I've caught this stinkin' unopened pack bug and I can't seem to get rid of it.

I love the 77's as well Doug. I was 8 back then so I know where you are coming from. There are a lot of knowledgeable guys on here so feel free to ask when in doubt. Hope this one turns out ok for you.
Thanks, and yea after being here for 6 months I know that the knowledge on this board is unparalleled in the industry - especially in the unopened pack realm. The board came to my rescue a couple months ago when I bought a tray pack from a known resealer. I took a look at the pack and sure as sugar it had all the signs. Luckily, I was able to return it for a refund.
This is what is frustrating. If the threads exposing krukcards for what they really are weren't always deleted, people would stop making the mistake of spending money with them. It's a shame that so many know so very little about them because the truth is not allowed here.
Hi Folks, I received the rack pack and would love to hear people's thoughts. Please share with me your concerns. Thanks so much. I've learned so much since I started reading this board. Obviously, the Seaver section is what everyone has concerns with so I focused on that. This rack has significantly more curling than other 1977 packs I own but I believe that's normal depending on the climate of storage. Here you go, and thanks again!
Doug, in the picture with the top of the Seaver section i can see a double jugged edge that is clear evidence that the top of that section has been opened and resealed!! no doubt
You confirmed what I feared. I guess you might have been able to tell that by my picture choices that I was afraid the top of the Seaver section looked bad. The top of that section also has vertical impressions in the seal where the other sections don't. Crud! I *really* wanted that pack to be legit.
At least I was able to pick up that sweet '77 Schmidt/McCovey cello from you last week.
Also troubling with that rack is that 77 racks were produced with * cards (like Seaver) in the section next to the header card, no star cards in the middle section and ** cards (like McCovey) in the far right section. It is very unusual to see any variation from that sequencing but when it does happen all of the cards in that particular section should be uniformly incorrect with either one * or two ** (or no * for that matter). The Seaver card is a * card and the McCovey card (which is in the correct section) is a ** card.

(Correct me if you are wrong Jose) - I think what he means by "Double Jugged" is that the jagged edges at the top of the Seaver section don't line up. They do line up above the Yount, and above the Carew there is so much curling that it's hard to tell. Since the rack pack gets cut in the factory after the seal is complete, the jagged edges should always line up.
BTW - I just spoke with Steve over at Kruk Cards and he couldn't have been nicer. After hearing of my concerns, he offered me a full refund and will cover my return shipping costs as well. I know they can get bad press on these boards sometimes so I feel obligated to point out that they stepped up to the plate here.

StarPaxMan is correct. Moreover it is quite obvious that the horizontal seals above both the Yount & Seaver cells have been completely obliterated during the process of opening the cells, adding star cards, and then resealing the two cells with a heat bearing process. Very poorly done and Kruk cards, who has been in the unopened business for quite some time, knows better!!
"You tell 'em I'm coming...and hell's coming with me"--Wyatt Earp
Anytime you have four Hall-of-Famers showing on a pre-'80 rack there is a 95% to 99% chance it has been tampered with--and the 95% is a conservative number. 98% to 99% is more likely the case.
"You tell 'em I'm coming...and hell's coming with me"--Wyatt Earp
So since we know this is an obvious fake / resealed rack pack, and it is pretty safe to say the seller probably already knew but now knows for sure if I were the buyer I would open a SNAD case through PayPal as this being counterfeit.
I would then proceed to talk with PayPal in regards to how they want a counterfeited item to be "dealt" with and I would be shipping this rack pack back to the seller completely opened with the plastic destroyed so it can never be resealed. I would be perfectly within my rights also to do it this way thanks to their policies on counterfeit products, hell eBay/ PayPal might even tell me to NOT send any of the cards back and just prove that the product was completely destroyed.
I mean who here doesn't doubt that if this rack is sent back unopened that the wonderful seller will end up reselling it to someone else through some other venue?
