Original GAI slab (never cracked anything newer)....I just use pliers and a screwdriver like PSA holders
  • Blender. It saves the pain and suffering from receiving EOT

GAI holders are a rear insert vs. a butt joint, like PSA. You can see the thin seam on the back at the top. Use a thin width, flat edge screw driver about 1/8th inch wide. Work / wiggle it into the seam groove, rear top middle with downward pressure, slowly moving side to side along the top. This force usually breaks the seam and you can pop the top of the insert. Then gently start at the ends to break the seam along the sides. Never shove the blade parallel to the side of the card. Patience and a gentle hand = success. You can also start by nipping the two top coners with aviation snips then begin with the screwdriver as described. If this is a first time, practice on a non-valuable GAI card. Using this method, over the years I've probably cracked 75 GAI holders and haven't effed up a card.
