Any Issues With This Jeter Ball?

I know it's a Steiner, but I thought the Steiner certs were supposed to say the ball was autographed? Just wanted to make sure Steiner didn't make etched 3000 hit balls that were blank (and could then be a forgers paradise). Everything look good to you Jeter experts?

Thanks!

I do want to ad that I see most of the other certs like this say "Signed" but with hologram etc I'd have to assume it is good.
  • It's good, but you can call Steiner to confirm.

They most likely produced some of those engraved balls with the date to be sold unsigned, but those balls never in a million years would have gotten the hologram sticker for authenticity, at least not directly from Steiner. Only Steiner-guaranteed autographs have that hologram applied in the Steiner warehouse.

However, I've seen those Steiner authentication holograms successfully removed with a razor blade and affixed to other items, even though they're advertised as tamper-proof and are supposed to checkerboard when removed. They're very delicate and it's difficult to do, but it makes me wary. I'm sure it doesn't happen often, but I have no doubt that it happens.

Bottom line is unless you witness a signature in person or buy directly from a big-time retailer like Steiner, UD, Mounted Memories, etc., nothing is a sure thing. Ebay is NEVER a sure thing for autographs. NEVER EVER.
