On the heels of my completion of 1953 Bowman Color in PSA 8 or better comes another tough one that I am almost equally pleased with--1950 Bowman Baseball. I say almost because although the set is probably marginally tougher to complete in PSA 8 or better and it is a classic set loaded with legends, nothing can match the beauty of 1953 Bowman Color. I started this set about 13 years ago and had most of it raw. The majority came back PSA 8 but there was still a lot of work to do--13 years later with eagle-eye dealer Steve Novella spotting a Kazak for me(card # 37) I am done. This completion also brings me down to 2 sets to complete to finish my 1948-1955 Bowman run in PSA 8 or better--1949 Bowman and 1953 Bowman Black & White. Both will be tough--there are some extraordinarily low pops in each set(3 or less) that I am missing and Charlie, Marshall and Don don't seem to be parting with their copies.
The set is 252 cards, contains 25 Hall of Famers and 23 Rookie Cards. The toughest card is the set(even though it is not the lowest pop) is the Pop 13 Parnell--card #1. It has an SMR orf $2,500 but I paid about $3,500 for mine. The lowest pop card is the pop 9 Dickson--card #34. The final one for me was the Kazak which is the second lowest pop in the set(pop 10). The whole first series(1-72) is tough. Among the notable cards in the set are Parnell, Feller, Rizzuto, Berra, Teddy Ballgame, Campy, Duke and Jackie Robinson. Notable rookie cards are Bauer, Newcombe and Rosen.
My set is an 8.0 with a couple of 8.5s thrown in with the rest psa 8s. This places it 6th on the PSA Set Registry behind many of the usual suspects--Charlie, Don, Marshall and William Toppi and Joe Wilson. I will let the set rest at this level.
Thanks to all the collectors and dealers who have paid such an instrumental role in helping me complete my sets.

Great set, congrats on finishing it! Good luck finishing the 53 Bowman set, that is one beautiful set of cardboard. The black and white is sure to add some challenge.
I believe you have a 63 Mathews PSA 10. I would love to see a picture of it someday!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
This set is picture worthy.
My kids are here for easter so I will see if they can put it up.
Jeff,
A card party sounds great. I will plan one for the summer.
Thanks to my collecting friends for your thoughts.
