BBCE Facebook page

Tell you guys what, the BBCE Facebook page needs more "likes". Right now we're at 269; spread the word and let's get that number to over 400. If you're not on Facebook, why not join? You don't have become a social butterfly just because you're on Facebook, but from a hobby standpoint, it's a good way to follow some of the news sites (like Sports Collectors Daily, Beckett, PSA), manufacturers (Panini, Upper Deck, Topps) and your favorite dealers (BBCE, of course) all at one place.
BBCE uses Facebook to tell our followers where we are traveling to next, post pics of some of our buys, show and discuss what will be going up for sale soon, and announce specials. If you're a fan of quality product, reasonable prices, and excellent customer service, you'll be able to hear it first. If you don't want to sign up, you can still bookmark our page (in my signature line below) and check it out regularly.
Help us out and I'll post some pictures of that 1952 Topps Baseball wax pack brick that gemint is talking about in another post.
No, we didn't buy it the pack.
No, it isn't for sale.
No, I don't remember who owns it.
No, I don't remember where they live.
Yes, the pics are real.
Also, Steve and I are contributing an article in every issue of Beckett Baseball, Football, Basketball, and Hockey (not the Sportscard Monthly) about a vintage (or at least non-current) unopened product. They should be coming out soon or have been out already. Has anyone seen the articles yet? Care to share any feedback? Also, does anyone have special requests for a future article?

Now, go find me some 1975 rack box cases pronto.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep."
"Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans."
Collecting:
Any unopened Baseball cello and rack packs and boxes from the 1970's and early 1980s.
edit to add, I added mine for 270.
Imagine giving away an unopened pack a month.
It doesn't have to be anything big, we ALL love cards.
Or have the prize be determined by how many likes.
For example, 1,000 likes and it's something unopened form the 80s.
10,000 likes, something from the 70s, and so on.
And seriously, "like us" on facebook should a link right on your homepage, I don't see it.
Edited: And as much as I like BBCE and as much as I like spending my $$$ there, coming on the boards and asking for a 'like' feels like spam.

<< <i>Sorry Reed, I already am one of the 269, but I'm looking forward to the pictures and updates.

Pulled an 87-88 Fleer Jordan out of a single pack (OC damn it!) and what appears to be a Gem Mint 93-94 Ultra Scoring Kings Jordan out of a box. Looks so good I may go after the BGS 10. Will post some scans when I can.
Great page too, some sick images of product and a great way to keep track of when new inventory will arrive!
<< <i>After some nice ripping from BBCE this weekend I 'liked' the page as well!

That being said, I liked your page months ago, from my cell phone.

I'm sorry we don't have a Facebook link on our homepage; we'll try to get one up on the someday. We don't do the programming for our own site, and getting the host to do it, well, we'd rather save our requests for important stuff, like when the site goes down unexpectedly. We're card dealers, not computer programmers. Our site might not be state of the art and our print ads look like they were created in Word and not Microsoft Publisher, but I think we do a good job of everything else. Maybe we should start a thread titled, "ideas on how to make BBCE look more professional." (note: this sounds sarcastic, but I'd welcome the comments.)
The prize here are pics of a 1952 Topps Baseball wax pack brick. Rather than one person winning, everyone here gets to win. However, if we get to 10,000 likes (hell, even 1,000), then you can start demanding we give away stuff, and we'll be happy to do so.
As for feeling like spam, you're probably right, but it doesn't really bother me, so I'm OK with it. Think of it this way - the more collectors that are aware of us, the more opportunities for us to buy quality product, which leads to more opportunities for you to obtain said product. In addition, higher volume leads to lower margins, which means even better prices than what we have already. So bear with a little spam, because in the end, it's all worth it.
Seven new "likes" in an hour - Thanks, guys!

I disagree on this thread feeling like spam. The facebook page is very informative and is a great compliment to the website. Glad to support a quality business. Keep up the great work.
<< <i>Thanks, I was real hype when that Scoring King came out of the pack.

+1 Reed and I like that you've been coming on here more. Good to hear from you.

I was going to say the same thing, an artist came on here and gave away a free sports painting to whoever got the most people to like their page. Maybe you could do the same.
Also, I would love if you got a twitter....or do you have a twitter?

Are you aware of how many new members there are to this site since BBCE have been supporting our group rips? I still don't know another business that will do what they do with group rips. All the other big dealers seem lazy and cheap in comparison.

And I have a Facebook question for anyone who can answer this.....I don't use Facebook nor do I have any desire to start, so what good does the "Like" button do? Is it just because all
the cool kids do it or is there some sort of reward for more likes?
Matt
<< <i>Considering that they do so much for the group rips and offering a 10% discount each time, I think this thread is just fine. But that's just me.

"Like" simply means that a product or name is mentioned.
For instance, Joe Smith has a facebook (fb) page. He decided he likes BBCE. On Joe Page, and for all his friends to see, it will say something like Joe Smith likes BBCE.
Each "like" truly has a $$ amount attached to it in marketing dollars. Is it real? No one seems to know, but everyone is buying in (I'm sure you could google that just to find out).
Also, when you "like" you then see posts from that product/service/individual.

Next time you guys do a group rip where you bust open a case of something juicy, would be awesome to see a video of the case actually being opened ... it's a rare treat to even see one of these pre-80s these days ... let alone get the opportunity to see one opened! >>
Somebody bring a video camera to the National. We might have some juicy product then.

See, one can even learn things on Facebook! That second eBay ID bbcexchange2 is a good one for modern product. We've pretty much expanded to buying just about everything, and having bought a couple store inventories lately, this is where we list most of the cards. Plus, everything starts at 99 cents, we never end auctions early, and we don't set reserves or play games with our auctions.
